Big Bay is located about 28 miles northwest of Marquette, on Lake Superior and is home to Bay Cliff Health Camp, a wellness and therapy camp where children and adults with physical disabilities learn to believe in themselves. The Camp facilities also host retreats for various organizations, which is what was going on recently when Christi Schmitt was there, helping out.

Any time of year out at Big Bay is beautiful, but like everywhere else this year, fall just makes it that much better. Christy takes us on a photographic tour of the campus there at Bay Cliff, from the welcoming entrance, to the Big House where meals and activities take place, to the various gazebos around the grounds where campers can sit and reflect, to the beautiful views along the walking trail that takes you to the Frog Pond and Lake Superior.

The Bay Cliff webpage says the camp promotes health, wellness, education and youth development. What an outstanding setting to accomplish those goals. You can learn more about this non-profit camp and maybe help them out with a donation, here: Bay Cliff Health Camp.

I always wondered what Bay Cliff was like, thanks Christi, for letting us know.

Nice pix and a great concept...people with disabilities can always use a little extra help and R&R.

Beautiful place! Love the gatehouse.
Wondering if it may have been a private estate at one time?

So peaceful and tranquil on a beautiful setting.

Bay Cliff is a truly wonderful place, amazing place. It
is dedicated to working with children who happen to
have disabilities. They get a camp experience and grow
in confidence and independence. The pictures are
GREAT! thanks for sharing.

I finally found the answer to my question ~ it was originally a dairy farm. When I attempted to check the 'history' on the site this morning, it wouldn't open for me.
Very interesting history and what a wonderful place to help those disabled. Thank God for the 2 women who had a 'dream'!

I knew several people who worked at Bay Cliff back in the 1970's. It was a really special place that provided a lot of joy to a lot of people.
