Two of our Pasty Cam contributors were up near Eagle Harbor this past week and saw a mysterious ship, shrouded in fog. Upon closer inspection, they could see it was the Coast Guard out on Lake Superior setting the buoys for the summer boating season.

The first four shots were snapped by Henry Sakari who said he was actually on his way home from Copper Harbor when he spotted this boat in the fog, so he pulled into Eagle Harbor to get a better look. In Henry's fourth photo, you can see two buoys, a red and green one on the deck of the boat, with the crane hooked up and ready to set the Eagle Harbor buoy in place.

The last two photos were taken by Emma Stout, who had seen the Coast Guard boat when she went out fishing with her Dad and brother. She said the boat looked like it was floating with the fog surrounding it like that. After their day of fishing, they were treated to a beautiful sunset and the buoy in place to help guide them through the rocky entrance to Eagle Harbor.

How fun that both of these photographers were there at just about the same time and we get to see the buoy setting and the sun setting on the buoy, too. Thanks Henry and Emma!

Love these photos. I am guessing the Coast Guard buoy tender is the Alder? Have a good day everyone, and stay dry, if you can!

I'm with Marianne! I love these photos. That last
one is beautiful. Love seeing the sun on the lake
instead of those icebergs, lol!

Thanks for sharing!

My brother-in-law would agree with you, Thomas ~ he was proud to serve with them during WWII.
