When Mike Schneider got wind that we were going to be getting some Northern Lights a week or so ago, he knew just where to set up his camera to snap optimal shots of the light displays.

That first shot of his, contains more than the beauty of the Aurora lights, since he captured the Marquette Lighthouse and the campus surrounding it all lit up, too. That's quite the ground glow there, topped off with a green tinge just above the actual lighthouse, too. Beautiful!

The next shot of the flickering and arching Aurora was snapped from one of the M28 turn out areas. I like the way the glow from the town emanates up into the sky and then the Northern Lights just take right over and glow bright green across the rest of the sky!

Great shots, Mike, thanks for getting out there and snapping them for us!

Very pretty, Mike!

Northern Lights are always neat to see! I have seen them while in Copper Harbor.

Janie, your 'profile' pic reminds me of Nashville at '50s Christmastime also. One of the large dept. stores always had animated Christmas scenes. We would make a special trip downtown at night just to see their 'windows'. "Those Were the Days"!

Shirley, this is the Cedar Rapids I miss. When it was a blue collar city. Downtown stores were all decorated for Christmas very much like the beginning of the movie A Christmas Story. Back when one could comfortably say Merry Christmas and no chances of offending anyone....I still say Merry Christmas today. Wonderful memories!

I miss my 'old' Nashville too, Janie ~ it's gotten way too big for me. Merry Christmas!;)
