Last weekend, Jodi Corrigan and her family headed to the Huron Mountains in Baraga County, to get in one last camping trip for the season. By the looks of the photos she shared with us here today, there were varying degrees of color there, depending on whether you were heading in to the campsite on the road there or if you were near the ponds and swamps.

Jodi's daughter grabbed her fishing pole and was determined to catch dinner one of the days, in a big beaver dam. She was using an experimental fish bait, maybe working on a science project even, to see if the fish would bite on a blade of grass. I guess it was a good thing they had other food along to eat!

They found huge moose tracks nearby where they were camping, but never did see the animal itself. Instead, they had the thrill of spotting four bears. Perhaps that might be why they didn't see the moose around.

The last photo was what they were treated to at the end of the day out there in the wilderness. Now if that doesn't calm a soul and reduce stress levels, I don't know what will.

Thanks for sharing your camping trip with us all, Jodi and family!

My favorite is the second one...the variety of color is outstanding. Thanks, Jodi and Mary!

I like the contrails in the last picture. Sometimes they can make interesting patterns.

Good Morning. The bed of leaves on the road in looks so inviting. I love the Road In and the Moose Track photos, thank you!

Speaking of a chilly morning, our morning low here in mid-Michigan was 32. I got a special weather statement from NOAA yesterday on my iPhone, announcing that they are declaring the growing season in southeast Michigan to be officially over, so they will no longer be issuing Frost Advisories or Freeze Warnings. Interesting. That means we have to watch closely the projected overnight low temps, if we want to protect things like potted mums, etc. We brought ours in last night. I think Chicago had a Freeze Warning for overnight.

"Stunning pictures, Jodi. Thanks so much for
sharing."

By Allen W. Philley (Allen) on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 - 11:13 am:

I like the first picture best. I have always been facinated by roads or trails that head off somewhere. The mystery and anticipation of what I might find or see. Especially in the U.P.

Couldn't agree with you more Allen! All very nice photos!

Where were you camping, Jodi?

By eugenia r. thompson (Ert) on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 - 08:57 pm:

Beautiful photos, esp. the first one -- I love it
when the leaves are so golden that it makes the
scene look like lights are on.

Our family owns property out in the Huron Mountains. We stay out there a few times a year. I can't even begin to describe how peaceful it is out there, away from modern technology and life in general. Just all around relaxing! Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments. Glad to share a little piece of paradise with you all!
