When you live here UP North, you often bustle from place to place without really taking the time to notice the beauty that surrounds you wherever you go. It takes visitors like Marsha Galbraith, to make us "locals", stop and take notice.

While here for a visit recently, Marsha snapped some scenes around the area, that illustrate the peace, tranquillity and allure that keeps bringing people back over and over again. So, if you're frazzled and stressed out, just sit back and take in today's scenery, you'll feel calmer in no time.

Good morning all!

Glad you made it home safely, UC!

Those are nice, especially the peaceful vista.

Great shots ~ all show the everyday 'specialness' of the UP!

Saw a report that the DNR has finally confirmed fishers in the LP. Of course they are now common in the UP ~ another reason to visit and enjoy the wildlife.

Beautiful pictures. Especially love the blossoming trees. We saw so much of that when we were there this month. Just gorgeous!

Awesome sights, Marsha!

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 - 10:23 am:

At my home in Genesee, we saw such beautiful flowering trees this spring! It was doubly special to get to enjoy them again during the UP's later-than-ever spring!

By Allen W. Philley (Allen) on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 - 10:44 am:

I have to wonder how much the terms "visitor" and "local" matter. I see Marsha's images so often that I would almost bet she does not consider herself just a visitor. I was born in Hancock but am not a local yet when I visit I do not feel like a just a visitor. Yes descisions / votes and policy should be up to the locals (those with full time legal local address). But the UP is so dear to many visitors and this wonderful site is proof. I personally feel like a goose with a migratory instinct which means I have two homes in my heart. I love this daily interactive "UP fix" and can not call myself a local but part of me knows I am more than a visitor. I am glad that Marsha visits and contributes as much as she does, but I ramble.

Short version: Great pictures today as always.

Mary says: Allen ~ I hope you didn't think that I was using "visitor" and "local" in a derogatory way. That was not my intention at all. I just meant to point out that those that live here every day, like myself, sometimes take the beauty that surrounds us for granted. Whereas, folks like Marsha and yourself, notice it more, because you come and go and are always drawn back to it.
Having the U.P. as your first or second home is definitely a
plus!!

Mary and all others: I sort of went off crooked and did not mean it as it came out. Some are, just visitors, some visit more and feel they belong and we are envious but happy for you locals.

Beautiful scenery.

We are all locals on this planet.

By D. A. (Midwested) on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 - 04:40 pm:

If you've ever lived in the UP you can call it home,
at least according to my rules even if I was a "just
an MTU student". If it was home once upon a time as
it was for me from 1972 til 1976, it will always be
a home for me. That's why I keep returning.

Coming up next week for the IFT.

By D. A. (Midwested) on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 - 04:44 pm:

p.s. So much friendlier than some in Texas where one
must be a third generation born in Texas in order to
be considered a "Texan".

No slight intended to The Capt. and Nat.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 - 06:39 pm:

None taken D.A.; we couldn't agree more.......
