Bus loads of Finns and V-formations flying overhead here in the Keweenaw mean the geese have had time to make nests and begin their families, and visitors to FinnFest 2013 have swarmed into Hancock.

Marlin Wenberg spotted this goose family at their cottage in White City. He counted 13 goslings, even though you can't see them all in this picture, with Mom overseeing their moves and Dad on the lookout for anything that might disturb his little family.

The second photo was snapped by Lindsay White, as she and her family were kayaking recently. The flock of geese there, blend in well with the waters edge and Lindsay said as they came closer to them, they all took off with a roar of wings. Good thing they didn't tip the kayaks over as they flew off. ;->

Pasty Central hosts the website for FinnFest2013, which is in full swing this wet weekend.

Good morninig, all! Nice pictures of the Canada geese - one of my favorite birds. Thanks for sharing.

I wonder which there are more of - Canada geese or robins? The geese seem to be everywhere in Michigan. They could almost be the state bird. Don't you agree?

Have a great weekend!

The geese are all over out here, too. They're beautiful. But my favorite will always be the loon. Nice pictures!

Geese seem to love it here when the floods happen. Fascinating to watch, but my favorite is the little but mighty Wren.

Our annual nesting Canada geese have long-since come and gone.:< Maybe they went UP north!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, June 22, 2013 - 08:52 am:

Oh I love the wren too, Janie. They have a nest of babies in a birdhouse hanging in our tree right by our patio. They just chirp at us when we're out there. They sing so pretty.

Nice flock, but do they allow quackers in bed?

By Dunerat (Dunerat) on Saturday, June 22, 2013 - 10:47 am:

Probably not a good idea to try to make your way past all those geese and goslings to do a little fishing off that dock, eh?

About a week and a half ago, we saw lots of V's flying north up the lakeshore here in the Muskegon area.

We get our share of Canada geese where I live, 2.

The Canada geese are lovely to watch. But watch where you step if you're near their area! They are PROLIFIC POOPERS!

Geese sure have BIG families! Wonderful photos today!

The geese are a nuisance in the city. Our parks and golf courses are loaded with goose poop.

"A Little Goose Poop"
Wasn't that a Beach Boys Song from the 1960s?

Oh no, I guess that was: "Little Deuce Coupe" <grin>
