Monday-What'sUP May 20 - 09:31 am

This past Wednesday, Bob Gilreath was out fishing for the Walleye season opener, in Oscar Bay, when he spotted a Bald Eagle having a successful fishing expedition. Since Bob wasn't catching anything at the moment, he grabbed his camera to capture the sequence of events in the eagle's catch. Quite the camera work there, getting the snag from the water, then various shots of the Eagle flying off with the fish in its talons, to the landing on the dock across the way with the fish still gripped tightly. Nice job, Bob!

The last photo was from the next day, when Bob was having a better day catching fish. He said this was his best catch of the day. Congratulations on both of your "catches"... the great Eagle photos and the one you're holding, too. Thanks for sharing your "fish" story with us all!

Wonderful photos! I saw an eagle snatch a fish that looked as big as he was -- took him a long time to get any altitude.

Gorgeous photographs but of course the subject is the star. The beautiful flight of the eagle to catch his prey. The sight, the flight, the talons and the takeoff after success. Nature at its best.

Love the pictures! Thank you Bob! Went walleye fishing on opening day and they were so busy spawning that they didn't care about the bait. Saw walleye that were so huge we couldn't believe it. All they did was keep rolling over, doing their thing to keep the fish population alive and growing.

Great CATCH - Great Photo's Captured as well.

We have American Bald Eagle's here as well. They are beautiful to watch and some have "protected" nesting sites.

Great photos, it mist have been a thrill to see. I think that I remember from a nature program that the osprey, to succesfully fly with its caught fish, has to align the fish so that the head is facing forward to reduce wind resistance. This eagle doesn't seem to have needed to do that, just powered on with the fish dangling.
