Kevin and Mandy Rathbun made a visit to Bond Falls in Ontonagon County, near Paulding, hoping to see some spectacular Spring run-off and they weren't disappointed. Their photos here today, show that the falls were running so heavily that almost the entire walkway was flooded, including the stairs on the way. Kevin said the falls were really roaring and from these shots, you can just about hear it, not only see the spray in the air as the rushing water cascades over and hits the water below. I wonder what the volume of water would be measured at this time of year...pretty impressive that's for sure.

When I first viewed the walkway photos, I thought "I've never seen that part of the waterfall before!" I didn't realize that I was looking at the actual WALKWAY!

Amazing! Thank you Kevin and Mandy!

Yesterday a friend sent me photos of Canyon Falls, Falls River Falls, and Silver River Falls, all going strong....as well as photos of him XC skiing on May 4. What a remarkable year we're having!

I think the stairway makes for a pretty neat effect for a waterfall!

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 - 08:51 am:

I would love to be able to see those falls that you mentioned, Dunerat! Silver River is my favorite and the other two rate 2nd and 3rd! My cottage is nearby in Aura.

WOW is right! Next to lighthouses, I love waterfalls! Maybe I'll be able to see in person some day, after a winter like this past one. Thanks for sharing everyone.

Beautiful. I hope the stairs don't get waterlogged, though.

Great shots of the falls, Rathbuns! I see you still have snow on the ground. Ours has been gone fot quite some time down here in GR area. Isn't it wonderful that our state of Michigan can have such diverse climes at the same time?!!

By Jeanette Gohl (Jgohl) on Monday, May 13, 2013 - 11:14 am:

Awesome pictures! Although it won't be quite as spectacular, I am so looking forward to visiting these falls this summer!

By teena maki (Chm1938) on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 - 06:28 pm:

Very different that in summer--Beautiful both times, but really lets us know how much snow/water we have had this winter.
