The folks over at the Laurium Manor Inn were out with camera in hand, to show the surrounding colors near the Inn. The top photo is a brilliant, orange maple tree in front of the Keweenaw House there in Laurium, showing that even though peak color season is perhaps a week or so away, there are a number of trees at their peak already. Beautiful, to say the least.

The second shot was snapped right in front of the Inn and shows their Virburnum bush with the leaves turned a vibrant red and the berries even brighter. All this with little sunshine over the past week, but plenty of rain. Sure is nice when Mother Nature does her best to brighten things up, even during the gloomiest of weather.

Beautiful! We are not going to get color because I don't think we've had rain since August. The leaves are dying off before they're turning. Such a shame to miss out on the beauty of fall!! So, I just go and look at the pictures I took up there last October to get my fix :-) We have a 16 x 20 canvas of US 41, taken on the way to Copper Harbor that we took last October, hanging on our wall. We get to look at it every day. Enjoy your colors!

That is surely one thing I miss about the north..... the colours of autumn!! Down here in the tropics everything just turns brown and falls off. We were in Houghton last year in October after our geologic conference in the Twin Cities and even though it was well past peak, it was still better than anything we get to see here.

I never get tired of fall color pictures. We were in the Keweenaw last week and despite the rain, we still enjoyed the early fall color displays. I love the bright beautiful full-blown reds and oranges, but there is also something wonderful about the subtle color changes, too. To me, autumn is a beautiful season with a lot of surprises. I just put some pics from the Keweenaw in my gallery last night in case you are watching the progression.

Here in the thumb of Michigan, some of our trees are dropping leaves without turning colors, other trees are beginning to show the beautiful Autumn colors. Summer was stressful for them here, too. Autumn is definitely my favorite season in Michigan!

Laurium Manor Inn has an interesting FaceBook page. Looks like a beautiful place! :-)

Very nice! I guess pictures will have to do, because October is a busy month around here thanks to all the 1040 procrastinators :-(

Beautiful fall pics. I love Laurium. It is interesting to simply drive around and admire the big old homes. I may just move there one day.

Headed to Eagle Harbor tomorrow to see the colors, the waves and :( close the cottage for the winter. We get 5 great days though and then it's just dreaming and pasty cam until May.
