Since we feature a sunrise or sunset at the end of each month, we sometimes miss out on some amazing shots that folks send in for consideration. So, I decided to do a sunrise/sunset day in the middle of the month, to share some of those shots.

The first one isn't really a sunset shot, but I love how the evening light is highlighting the pastel colors of the wine in the glasses and the green of the bottle. A simple study of still life with a quiet Lake Superior as background. Interesting capture, Marilyn Bachorik.

Joe Kirkish was up bright an early to snap this brilliant Keweenaw sunrise. The colors bursting forth as the sun comes over the horizon are simply amazing! Enough said...

This photo was taken after a day of swimming and picnicking with our Grandsons. We were just leaving Esrey Park and the oldest one (age 10) said that he'd never seen the sun set all the way, so we stopped and watched it go down. As we were driving away, our youngest grandson (age 5) said that this was the best day ever. I agree!

Nancy Craven sent in several sunset photos from her stay at McLain State Park. She said they were all so beautiful, that she couldn't decide on just one, so she sent a half dozen for me to choose from. This was my favorite.

The final sunset photo comes to us from Mark & Cheryl Wehmanen, taken in the Bootjack area. Beautiful, with the faint pink in the sky and then reflected in the calm waters of Portage Lake.

Perfect way to end the day.

Oh WOW!!!! What gorgeous pictures of Lake Superior and the sun! Esrey Park sunset is stunning! Having just spent a good portion of the day there, just snapping pictures and watching the lake at its finest, I appreciate anything from that spot! I so love it there.

Wonder what kind of wine that is :-) It's a little too early for some moscato, but maybe tonight!

Gorgeous pictures! Love them! I'd be happy as a clam sitting there with just a plain ol' ice tea or Pepsi!!

Very, very nice...especially the second photo.
That looks like a bottle of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay.

My wife Pam and I were married in the little shelter at Ersey Park back in 84. We always loved the Park. The State has done a really good job over the years making it user friendly.

WOW.

Wow, I'm always so excited when one of my photos gets
chosen for Cam Notes! Thanks, Mary. We look at Pasty
every morning as we have breakfast in Dearborn, and we
count the days until we can head back north. We'll be
heading back across the Mighty Mac in 16 days, so lots
more photo ops in the beautiful UP.

Lovely photos!! If that's Chardonnay, I'll have a glass, please. ;9

Or better yet, MarilynnB, a 'tasting' button.;) But then again, too early in the day.

Hi
I can't wait to get back up north to see the wonderful sunsets. I have to admit a glass of wine on our deck is also a great part of my vacation experience.

It's 5 'o clock somewhere....

By Kathyrn Laughlin (Kathyl) on Friday, August 17, 2012 - 12:12 pm:

Hey, Capt. Paul, it only has to be noon somewhere...

By Rowdy (Roudymi) on Friday, August 17, 2012 - 12:30 pm:

Funny.... On the AIS that tracks the boats on the Lakes there's one with the name "It's Five O'clock somewhere".

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Friday, August 17, 2012 - 12:56 pm:

Or you can just reset the clocks.;>

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, August 17, 2012 - 01:09 pm:
