Another double-take to follow up yesterday’s… when I first saw the top photo from Robert C. Wetton. It looks like the raft at his Bootjack cottage is hovering over the water, due to the early morning fog hanging over the lake and the complete stillness of the water acting like a mirror. Very neat mirage. RCW's second shot is what the raft looks like normally, just floating there. With such a stunning sunset, you barely even notice the raft in the water, but on a hot summer night, I bet an evening swim out to it is a great way to end the day.

We were talking about those rafts yesterday while out swimming in the middle of an area lake. It would have been nice to just have one of those rather than having to climb back in the boat to jump off. Oh well, I guess the important thing is we get to cool off. We've desperately needed that this year. And the water felt oh so good!

Great pictures, RCW!!!

Hi
Our vacation home is on an exposed coast of Lake Huron near Cheboygan. Years ago, the man at a neighboring cabin tried to have a diving dock. He used a variety of methods to try and anchor it but it kept being dragged off down the coast by the waves. Finally, he used a chain attached to an old engine block to anchor it. The waves broke the chain and took the dock. You can still see the engine block when the sand hasn't covered it.

It is definitely a summer for getting in the water.

I couldn't figure out the top one at first....looks like a delapidated houseboat. The eyes are the first to go...after the mind.:(

You beat me to the punch line JT, but hind-sight is 20-20 :-)

The first shot looks like a satellite in space.

That 1st pic looks like the raft is resting on a mirror.

Looks like the one I used to spend a lot of summer days on fishing and diving . Just across from Bootjack. Playing Huck Finn.

A UFO? An alien "recreational vehicle" visiting the Copper Country?
