These two pictures reflect my state of mind this Eve of Christmas. A peaceful, glowing scene from Roger Kangas and then Taana Kalliainen supplies us with our Joulu puu. Yes, for a change, I'm all set for the holiday with no race to purchase last minute gifts, my tree is up, the presents are wrapped and waiting. The kinkku and the lanttulaatikko are both ready to bake, so now I can put a couple logs in the woodstove, prop up my feet, go back to sleep, and wait for the jolly man in the red suit to arrive! Rauhallista Joulua. ;)

Finnglish guide:
Joulu puu - Christmas tree
Kinkku - ham
Lanttulaatikko - rutabaga casserole

We're baking up 8 loaves of Grandma's cardamum biscuit this morning - 'nisu' she called it. It wouldn't be Christmas without it! We had pasties last night...

Merry Christmas Everyone! My wish for all of you is to have a beautiful Christmas and a Happy New year!

Todays picture is gorgeous! The second one reminds me of the tree we decorated in our front yard at Dollar Bay. When it would snow and put a cover over the lights it was so pretty.

Holiday blessings to all friends on pasty.cam both near and far. How appropiate, the moon and sun in the same view. A symbol of life receding and renewing, life to death and to life again. We lose some of those we love but new life blooms again in the newborn child. Peace to all.

By Marc Slis (Marc) on Saturday, December 24, 2005 - 11:29 am:

Merry Christmas everyone. I've just woken up for the midnight shift, we're off Thailand and it's 12:30 am the 25th, or for me, Christmas morning.

Hi Honey, I got an early Christmas present yesterday morning-I got sunburned during a 1 1/2 hr Pirate watch on deck.

Tell everyone at Julie's I said Merry Christmas. Call the ship when everyone gets there, if you can! Love you,
Your Seismic Pirate :)

Merry Christmas to every one . The site brings me closer to home. I am loving it... And Sur5er, I want you to know I think you are the one of the most compassionate people. I love reading your responses to all the pasty cammers. May the Lord bless you and your family this Christmas season and may Santa shower you with lots of presents. And your pups too...

Mary says: Hey Cuz, I saw your message on here yesterday...I will tell my Mom! :-) Merry Christmas to you and yours also!

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Saturday, December 24, 2005 - 12:29 pm:

Ditto on Theresa's message. Thanks for the recipe's guys. While gathering to carol the other night I mentioned rutabegas and no one down here had a clue. Southerners. Will try the casserole.

The trees are gorgeous. I love them both. Hope everyone is doing well up there and traveling safely. Our only obstruction here is traffic.

I thought you'd like this story from the other night too: Our pastor shared with us this story of his church in Oklahoma City. One elderly gentleman was standing in the narthex as the pastor said good byes to the parishoners. One fellow said, "So are we having church tomorrow morning (it was Sunday) and the older fellow said, "It's Sunday isn't it!" In thie season where often times people are split as to where to obtain any message, I really feel that the old gentleman was right: It's Sunday isn't it!
