Morning All

Perfect animation this AM Yooper. Enjoy the day everyone.

Yooper, your animation today, made me chuckle. Reminds me of my step children, when we rake leaves. They will put the leaves on the trampoline, and then jump up and down on the leaves and the trampoline. We call it 'leaf dispursement' ;-)

Questions for Mary: Got your e-mail about the calendar picks last night. Can we also pick from pictures that weren't chosen as picture of the day? If so, how would we note them to you? I assume that if we choose a picture of the day, we just tell you the date.

Also, I've always wondered how you choose the daily pictures. Is that a big undertaking? Do you have a system, like searching the name of a place you have in mind? Or do you just start looking? Just curious!

By Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Friday, October 7, 2005 - 03:07 pm:

Marsha,

Calendar picks: Your choices (votes) should be from the 'picture of the day' (correct me if I'm wrong on that Charlie or Daryl). And yes, you need only list the date of your choice (vote), in your reply.

Choosing the daily picture: There's a bit of a science to it, but mainly I check through the galleries for new shots to start with. The science part of it, was developed by Charlie and consists of a criteria that we follow each week, so that there's a nice variety of shots. I won't divulge that criteria right now, unless Charlie gives me the OK! ;->
Hope that answers your questions...

How far 'up north' is Indiana, considered? I overheard a woman (with a deep southern accent), talking on her cell phone, while I waited in line at the grocery store this afternoon.
Several people in line....me included, turned around and stared at the woman, after she remarked into her cell phone, "I'm so far up north, that the folks here don't even have phones."
If she only knew what 'up north' really meant, eh.

By Robert Brown (Cousinbob) on Saturday, October 8, 2005 - 02:03 am:

"Up North" is all relative. My wife was raised in Miami and was living in Naples when we got married. She was convinced that "up North" was Chattanooga. Having lived in Houghton 'til I was 21, I thought "Down South" was Milwaukee. Needless to say we both had a lot to learn..

By Cindy M. Archibald (Cindymay) on Saturday, October 8, 2005 - 02:27 am:

CousinBob ... you be speaking great truth today! Once worked in a grocery store in Utica, MI and overheard the breadman saying he was going up North hunting ... so being nosy and wanting to contribute to the conversation I asked him "where UP NORTH are you going?" And he said Dryden! Well, Dryden was only 15 minutes from home ... and about half the distance I drove to work!!! UP NORTH is a state of mind ... as well as a geographical location! Do any of you people from the UP ever get tired of hearing "Houghton ... do you mean Houghton Lake???" And down here in south Florida ... I'm afraid the U. P. always needs a longer explanation!
