Now this is my idea of a neat way to cool off in the summer heat. I bet you're thinking I mean taking a dip in the chilled waters of Lake Superior, but what I'm referring to is sitting on the beach, preferably in the shade of a huge umbrella, daydreaming about skiing down one of the runs on the distant Porcupine Mountains in this shot by Skylar Baxter. Then of course my mind would wander back to the shores of the Big Lake and wondering what that long wooden thing is in the water - part of a dock maybe? Or a humongous piece of driftwood perhaps?

Maybe a really large Northern Pike? I am leaving shortly for a week in a cottage on Lake Huron. A little farther south than this, but the same waters flow past on both lakes. May you all have a wonderful week full of surprises and challenges! My biggest challenge will be to avoid a sunburn. :)

Superior looks beautiful, especially to us stuck here in steamy
Florida.

Good Morning...Pocupine Mountains here we come. Will be camping up there is just a few weeks. Can't wait! The water and the mountain is calling us. Will be bringing my grand daughter for her first UP trip.

They have done a lot of lumbering inland just west of White
Pine and there have been many logs. There is also a shallow
shipwreck near there. The Patagonia? Something like that.

It's a log. I had to wade out in the cool, cold, waters of the big lake to take the picture. The water was about chest deep on me. Once again I am honored that a picture of mine is on pasty.com. Thank you! Later, Skylar.

The Porkies will be very busy this weekend with Ontonagon's All School Reunion. It's great to see everybody! Welcome home Polar Bears and Gladiators!!!

I've taken a similar picture to this one in October and I did not wade out!

This might be Superior's version of Nessie?
