Hi Ron just wondering if the picture from Sunday has any connection with your family?

My college roomie Phil, his son LJ, and I will be coming north to Houghton next week. We'll be driving up Sunday July 3, so unfortunately we'll miss the Calumet Pasty Fest on Saturday. Does anyone know of any other Independence Day celebrations that are taking place on Monday or Tuesday (July 4-5)? I've been doing some Googling without finding too much. There have got to be some fireworks planned somewhere, if nothing else. Thanks for any tips!

Dale........First of all hit the Lake Linden parade on the 4th..(they have their fireworks on Sunday nght so if you can get there at dark that is the very best pace to start!!!........(GOOGLE.... SMOOGLE)...For a wild & Fun time be at the parade in Gay for their parade after the Lake Linden parade...standing on the porch of the Gay Bar is the best place to view it.......Last time we were there the floor broke through because so many people were standing on the porch.....I know Copper Harbor is the place to be for fireworks but I am not sure if their display is on the night of the 4th......have a happy and safe time....

All Sharon's Viewers may wish to check the kabcam - beautiful sunlight with a furry visitor (no, not the bear).

Yooper, Love the graphics...and yes, that is exactly how I spent my wonderful weekend in Michigan...on the water, and with Daiquris in hand. :-)

Dale B,
Copper Harbor has a large July 4th celebration. We've taken the Sunset Tour a few times on the 4th of July and the boat stays out on the water for a fantastic view of the fireworks. You have to be sure to sign up early before the cruise is fully booked, though. Click on the following link:

sur5er,
Just wondering what lake you ended up going to over the weekend?

Afternoon All. Thank you to whomever got the Bridge Cam back up and running. That is my daily 'fix' for anti-stress. Enjoy the day!

Check out the parade in Gay on the 4th! It starts at 2 p.m. and we are always looking for participants. It's more fun to be in it than to watch it! It's always a great time.

Guess I should have added a way to contact me if anyone has any questions regarding the Parade in Gay! There you go...

There will be a lot of Naasko's at the home place in Toivola this
week and next. Unfortunately I cannot be among them.

A lot of Misery Bay Maki's around this week too I hear. Come
see some of us who don't get back often. Come to Agate Beach.
Say hi to Duppy for me.

At least it is warm there. It did not get out of the 60's in Oregon
today. Drizzle and gloom.

So Kevin of Lodi: How do you prepare yourself to work the night shift after being off of it for such a long time? You must be still playing with those apricots as you are posting so early in the morning. :)

By Kevin K, Lodi, Ca. on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 - 04:01 am:

Beverly, San Jose.. After trying differnt ways of getting used to the night shift. What I found to work best is this, The night before the season starts and I have to go to nights. I stay up as late as I can 2-3a.m. Go to bed and get up at 6a.m. Go out do some yard work, chase the turkeys out of the yard, drown a few worms, etc. then around noon take a nap for a few hours. After the first night (You are always tired on that night.) you gradually get used to working the nights. Yes, we are still packing the apricots, and will start the peach pack around July 11th. Then after that, my new bride and myself are off to Mexico for our honeymoon.
How is school going?

By Beverly, San Jose on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 - 08:08 pm:

Congratulations Kevin. You deserve it.
School was great. I finished in December, but still feel I could learn a lot more.
Maybe I'll go back...you are never so smart that you can't learn more. :)

Beverly, San Jose....Tell that to my 13 year old daughter. She knows everything. :)
