When we were in town yesterday, I saw gasoline for $2.40 in
Hancock. What are the prices around the world where
everybody else is located??

I paid $2.04, the lowest in town, Friday afternoon. (Northeast Georgia) This morning the same station was $2.09, and most others were $2.15.

$2.29 for gas in Walled Lake/Wixom area.

2.19 regular/2.29 mid-grade for Lakeland/Florida

2.34 in the Holland, Michigan area. That was on my way into work about 5 this morning. Don't know if it has gone up or down as today went on.

San Jose beats Houghton for the highest price gas. To bad; it is good to be first in something.

Hmm, I don't know about the exchange rate, but we currently get about 2 litres for one BigMac - about two BigMac a gallon! ;)

To late Al, I needed the gas then and there, and how do you find all this information of prices anyway. I guess I don't spend enough time on the computer. Your funny danbury, are you talking about hamburgers to 2 liters of gas? Why would you want gas with your burgers? :)

Discusting, just darn right discusting, these prices the way they are now. Almost makes a person want to indulge in a alcoholic beverage or two!

Price for gas is $2.19 a gallon here in Indiana. But I wonder how much of that is federal and state/county taxes.

Price for diesel is $2.39 a gallon here in Indiana.

I know that currently on diesel fuel, that between Indiana state/county taxes and federal taxes that accounts for 61.6 cents of the price on each gallon of diesel.

Reason I know that,is that I have been taking on city hall all day today. The 'holy than thou' city council passed a city ordinance that prohibits hubby from parking his semi tractor at one of the stores he delivers to, over the weekend. According to the city ordinance it is illegal to park a tractor trailer anywhere in the city limits...even if it is on private property. Meanwhile the city/county collects all those tax dollars on the diesel fuel that they sell here in town for thier schools, police, roads, etc.

Actually, it has to be BigMacs. The reason behind this, unconfirmed: some people, economy scientists, I believe, wanted to compare the worth of money in several countries around the globe according to it's buying power, which means exchange rates wouldn't do. so they had to come up with something else, preferrably the price charged for something that was sold everywhere, in the same condition. What they came up with was - the BigMac.

It is a shock to see the price of gas, however I remember in my teens..(the olden days).. gas was about $.25 per gallon. A fairly nice house cost about $4,000 and a salary of $2,400.00 was considered good. I remember paying $2.00 for a blouse. I figured a multiple of 10 for the current costs.........so $2.50 per gal is equal to a $24,000 salary or a $40,000 house or a $20 blouse. Just my way of keeping things in perspective.
