Good Morning from Brighton

Each morning on the Pasty Cam it is my pleasure to select a "Spotlight" among the hundreds of U.P. organizations and sponsors who help bring you this website. Brockway Photography was our choice for April 15 (happy Tax Day, by the way), and I hope you have a chance to check out the excellent visual experience Mike Galetto has created.

Wonder what life would be like paying taxes in a different country??

By maijaMI on Friday, April 15, 2005 - 12:07 pm:

What's going on at Tech?

By BCT,mi on Friday, April 15, 2005 - 12:21 pm:

What ever they do in other countries about taxes has nothing to do with us. Can't believe that logic gets spewed on public forums.

By Charles in Adrian, MI on Friday, April 15, 2005 - 01:29 pm:

I was just running through my May/June issue of the
magazine Reminisce. (For those who don't know yet, this is a
delightful little magazine published in Wisconsin which is just
crammed with photos and little stories from their thousands of
readers all across the country. If you ever liked those little
stories in Readers Digest sent in by readers, you should take a
look at Reminisce.) Way at the back of this issue there is one
more good story. It was sent in by Joyce Rader Hart of Calumet.
In her story she reminisces about a shipwreck of the Ralph Budd
off Eagle Harbor in 1929. It is an interesting story made more
interesting by photos of a navy blue coat which washed ashore
which Ms Hart still has and prizes. If you get the magazine, be
sure to read all the way through. If you don't get the magazine,
go to your local library, and take a look. You will enjoy.

ser5er - hope you like Kona or Starbucks, my door is always open. :) Just be prepared to help with these tax forms because I freak out every tax season. Just give me 5 cups of Starbucks and see how long I sit still! :)

a reminder that 100 yrs ago today the old Houghton/Hancock bridge was destroyed ..a sad day for the folks in the Copper Country,...April 15, 1905...

MTU Spring Fling

By Alanna, MTU on Friday, April 15, 2005 - 03:21 pm:

Yup, it's Spring Fling. A day when you can get outside, enjoy the wonderful weather, and relax before the big exam week. The day turned out to be perfect and it seems like everyone is having a good time!

"...hope you like Kona or Starbucks..."

Bev, have you tried either of these yet?
Presidentti Coffee, Juhla Mokka I haven't yet but they're definitely on my "round tuit" list!

Presidentti coffee was reputedly featured at least at Heikkinpaiva 2002 if not later events, and is available from various sources. Try Googling "Presidentti coffee" or "Juhla Mokka Coffee" or "Paulig Coffee" (include the quotes) for sources.

LOGIC= "The science of the normative formal principles of reasoning". My reasoning is that if I have to pay taxes, I would much rather it be in the U. S. than any other country. That is what I ment by my previous comment. Thank you.....

By Charles in Adrian, MI on Friday, April 15, 2005 - 04:13 pm:

Ah, I see that Les of Oregon also reads Reminisce. (The hatpin
reference tells me that.) As far as looking for hatpins, that is too
detailed for me (at least as long as the good weather holds in
Adrian, and I can keep working on my outside springtime jobs).
Thanks for the comment though.

By sur5er on Friday, April 15, 2005 - 04:58 pm:

Barb,

Ooooooolala about the Starbucks coffee...I'm sharpening my pencil, (da one with da big eraser on it), to help with your taxes...be dere in a few :)

By danbury, messed up on Friday, April 15, 2005 - 07:07 pm:

Oops, sorry. Got the wrong page.

By Beverly, San Jose on Saturday, April 16, 2005 - 12:42 am:

FRNash: No, I haven't tried either one of the coffees you mentioned. Can't find my "round tuit". "Presidentti coffee" sounds to much like a 'Bush' thing, and I certainly couldn't contribute to that, (even though the blend sounds good I would have to turn it down because of principal) "Juhla Mokka coffee" sounds to much like 'Joulua' and I do not have anything to be happy about during tax time. (of the three Finnish coffees, this one sounds more to my liking "Paulig coffee" well if that is a good dark roast Columbian, I just might try it. Finnish coffee - Hmmmmmmm! :) With all this coffee I probably will be up for the next 3 days! It seems my tax forms are enjoying the coffee more than me.

ser5er --- forget about the eraser, I have erased so many times the paper has become to thin to do it one more time. :[
