It does not seem like a lot of steps, until you start back up. I been down to the Cut River a few times when I was a little younger. It is worth the climb.

Good morning everyone! 29, cloudy and windy here in Houghton. 1 inch of snow in the forecast. Have a great day!

Stop and go and no left hand turn.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, November 27, 2011 - 09:33 am:

Good morning! They call 231 steps a rest stop?? Holy smokes, I'd be more tired after climbing those, lol!

Hope you're all having a great Thanksgiving weekend. What could be better than the Wolverines beating the Buckeyes??? That was awesome! At least I don't have to watch football today! I can listen to Christmas music while I decorate.

Have a great day cuz it's back to work tomorrow:(

I loved coated berries. The snow looks like little hats. We've had a beautiful Thanksgiving here in Colorado, complete with a dusting of snow Friday night. But I am most thankful that Eagle Harbor is waiting for us to return next summer! I am also thankful that I have this website to check in with, in the meantime,

Go to freep.com and there is a story of bringing back some mines and there are pictures of the Quincy Mine Shaft.

I went up and down Silver Mtn once...(ahem...ONCE)....I don't recall how many steps...way too many...I could hardly walk for about a week after that. I told my doctor "my friend tried to kill me....(story about that walk)" and he said "She didn't do a very good job, did she?" LOL...I can't win....LOL

Wonder why there's a Christmas tree sitting in the middle of the street on Mackinac Is. (near ferry landing)? I know there are no motorized vehicles (at least not for residents) allowed, but still looks to be a tight squeeze for the carriages.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, November 27, 2011 - 08:10 pm:

Thanks Capt. Paul

By Bob Jewell, Farmington Hills (Rjewell) on Sunday, November 27, 2011 - 09:43 pm:

Shirley
They have been putting a Christmas tree in the middle street on the island for many years. There is room for carriages to get by but there are not a lot of carriages in the winter. Most of the horses are off the island for the winter.
