Beautiful fall color pictures both here on Pasty and on Deb's albums from her recent U.P. visit! Thank You both for the color *high*!

Just wondering...has anyone been fortunate enough to see a view this year like in 2001? What a sight!

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 - 08:43 am:

Alex, I agree, also Judy's 2010 are today's favorites!

Gorgeous autumn pictures in today's review; thank you! Today is a beautiful "Fall Day", here in mid-Michigan, with the leaves' gently falling to the ground, here a leaf, there a leaf, everywhere a leaf, leaf! We have had a great week of Indian Summer, but we are getting ready to head into more fall/winter in a couple of days, starting with rain, etc.

I thought I was the only one who thought that the colors in the UP, well, at least those that I have seen on Mich Tech's web cams every day and those posted here from this year, are duller than they were, at least last year. But I asked my Tech student son what he thought, and he agrees. (He sent me some nice photos from his Sunday afternoon bicycle ride along the Portage.) Last year was brilliant. This year, the yellows are pretty, both there and here in mid-Michigan, but the reds and oranges seem to be muted, both places. I've only seen one photo that is brilliant red this year, and that one was posted by John Dee on his blog a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, muted colors are better than bare trees! :-)

Deb, is there any chance of your posting your photos here, in your Pasty album, for those of us who do not do Face Book? I'm not sure of the population here, but other places, a number of people don't do Face Book. That would be awesome if you would do that for us, please. :-)

By Diana P. (Diana) on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 - 09:26 am:

I'll second that request, Marianne ... Deb, would love to see your color pics! ;-)

I have always wanted to live on a hill across from a lake. But here I am in flatland Berkley. Now at my age I am lucky it is flat here.

It is a hard hat area now. (*_*)

1 of the better Autumn Memory Lane days.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 - 04:30 pm:

A motorcycle rider was killed after hitting a deer in Holly, MI. No speeding or alcohol was involved, just an unfortunate case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 - 04:41 pm:

Alex, two years ago good friends of Bob and myself were killed when a deer randomly ran out from a field, into the side of their motorcycle. The people in front of them and behind them saw the whole thing right in front of their eyes. And keep in mind with the corn harvest and the rutting season about here, extra caution is a must, and not just for motorcyclists.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 - 05:59 pm:

I will try to get them posted to my gallery, Marianne and Diana. Thanks for asking!! It's just to get around to titling the darn things so everybody knows where we are.

Mary says: Stay tuned for Thursday's Pasty Cam, where I'll be featuring four of Deb's photos and one from RCW, too. Nice colors in them all. :-)

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 - 06:53 am:

Thank you, Deb, that will be great!

Alex there have been several motorcycle-deer accidents here in mid-Michigan since July, if I remember correctly. And there was one motorcycle-wild turkey accident, where the rider only lived because of the people in the car behind him, which included a registered nurse and three members of the Great Lakes Loons minor league baseball team, who did CPR, called 911, and stayed with the rider until the ambulance got there. Talk about being in the right place at the right time! That accident might have been last fall, but it was an inspiring story.
