Michigan Tech has been a frequent subject of the Pasty Cam over the years. In which years on this day does it appear?

By Diana P. (Diana) on Thursday, May 12, 2011 - 07:41 am:

2001 and 1998 :-)

Good Morning. I agree with 2001 and 1998. Michigan Tech is near and dear to our family, since my oldest son is an alum, and my youngest son just finished his freshman year in chemical engineering.

It would appear that Diana is correct; 2001 and 1998.

MTU is near and dear to my family, too, Marianne ... I have two grads, 2006 and 2008 ... and family member grads in previous generations, too. MTU is the best place I know of to get an engineering degree!! (BTW, I found out about this website through the "old" MTU website ... don't know if it's still accessible that way or not!) :-)

By Donna (Donna) on Thursday, May 12, 2011 - 08:08 am:

I miss Pud (Pickle)...he was a heckuva guy.

That last pic, Spring Warmth at MTU...that dude looks like he's about to cut loose with some RIVER DANCE!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, May 12, 2011 - 09:16 am:

Woohoo, I finally bagged that elusive "ird".

MTU is near and dear to my heart as well; I am a grad!! J

Hey Capt. Paul --

If you're in Houston now, you gotta get outside, stare at the sky, and open your mouth. Radar shows you've got a gully-washer coming that'll rinse all that nasty drought dust out of your throat.

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Thursday, May 12, 2011 - 04:13 pm:

Foggy, rainy day here today. Temps are slowly dropping. The maple trees are in full blossom and the peepers are getting louder at night.

Kind of wondered where the term, "pasty" came from and found this;

More rain coming, which is good, low fire alert.

Jimmy(Pud)McNickle was quite a guy for sure. He ent to Viet Nam at a young age & lost his eye sight. It didn't hinder his way of life though. He still had a great sense of humor & was always smiling & telling jokes. It wasn't unusual to see him hitch hiking on the road in Hubbell or Lake Linden. Often when you went up to him to talk, he'd say "Long time since I've seen you" or "nice seeing you" so casual like any of us with sight do when greeting people. It was a sad day when people found he had died of a heart attack. He died way too young but guess God had a better place for him. RIP Pud!!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, May 12, 2011 - 05:14 pm:

Gullywasher isn't the word for it, dunerat. It poured in downtown and had to drive my way out of a bad accident on I-10. I'm at my house now and it looks like we got a good soaking rain; the first since December. Although it's not going to make a dent in the drought as we were almost 12 inches below where we should be. On the other hand I'm glad we didn't get what Brenham got....... almost 11 inches in 3 hours!!!

Our father who art in Detroit. Hockey be thy name. Thy will be done. Thy cup will be won. On ice, as well as in the stands. Give us this day our hockey sticks. And forgive us our penalties, as we forgive those who cross-check against us, Lead us not into elimination. But deliver us to victory. In the name of the fans, ...Lord Stanley, and in the name of the Wings. Amen.

Go Wings!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, May 12, 2011 - 07:21 pm:

Amen indeed, Cindy!!!!
Go Wings!!!!

This looks like it could be a very good show on Saturday night, May 14:
"Professor Emeritus Robert Baillod (CEE) (of Michigan Tech) worked alongside his son Brendon during the filming of an episode of the "Explorer" series, "Ghost Ships of the Great Lakes," which will run Saturday, May 14, from 7 to 8 p.m. on the National Geographic channel."

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, May 12, 2011 - 10:19 pm:

Was friends with Pud when we were kids. Ran into him at Lindells several times a while ago.
