Brenda Leigh and her hubby, headed out for a day trip to the Cedar River North State Forest Campground, located about halfway between Menominee and Escanaba,, in Cedar River, MI. Their day started out with a red hot campfire (note the red hot hiking boots, too!) and some perfectly roasted hot dogs, smothered in mustard... my favorite! Then Brenda played around on the edge of the river, snapped a shot of the peacefulness of the place and then, tuckered out from the fresh air and activity, hunkered down in her hammock for a short rest, before they headed on their way back home.

I'd never heard of this campground before Brenda sent me the photos, so it looks like there's a new spot that I'll have to put on my bucket list, to do some exploring of my own. :->

Good Morning. I love those bright red shoes or boots, or whatever they are. :-) That looks like a great place to stop for a picnic or a night, or whatever. Thank you, Brenda.

Envious!

Mmmm...when do we eat?

By Donna (Donna) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 07:18 am:

Ah Brenda...you have the most wonderful adventures! And thank you for sharing them!

The trees, the flowers, the plants grow in silence. The stars, the sun, the moon move in silence. Silence gives us a new perspective.

Blessed Mother Teresa

(not much silence with rushing waters...but...)

Oh my gosh that hot dog looks amazing!!! That's what we had for Mother's Day and that is just the way I like them, nice and dark and full of mustard!! Now I'm hungry!!

Vollwerths' natural casing?

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 07:47 am:

Hold that mustard but a bit of catsup and relish will be fine. Now if we could package up the atmosphere what a lovely day.

By Helen Marie Chamberlain (Helen) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 08:30 am:

Super set of pics, Brenda. Thanks so much for sharing! That's what I call really "enjoying" the outdoors.

By Gary W. Long (Gary_in_co) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 08:35 am:

I can almost smell the campfire and taste the hot dog.

Yea Gary it sure brings back a memory or two....:)

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 11:29 am:

Hey Deb, you sound just like Dr. Nat; a well burnt dog with loads of mustard!! Me, I like em with ketchup and relish. What is funny here is that Sonic Drive-In has hotdogs that you can get with a pickle on top..... who ever heard of putting a whole pickle on a dog???

I'm guessing we'll have a better dinner tomorrow than hotdogs though as it will be 10 years I have put up with, er, shared with Dr. Nat. I'm also guessing it will beat our 1st anniversary dinner; Pizza Hut in Houghton (we were broke college students, what can I say.... ;-)

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 12:08 pm:

Nice pic's Brenda!

NEVER KETCHUP ON A HOT DOG!

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 12:35 pm:

Ketchup and mustard on a hot dog. Maybe some potato chips on
the side.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 01:48 pm:

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 02:07 pm:

Now you're talkin Janie! How's the back?

The surgery part of it is doing great....the severity of the degeneration of my spine, not so great.... :(

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 02:26 pm:

Let's make that degenerative of my spine.

By Cheryl Rozman (Cotton) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 02:41 pm:

Vollwerth's natural casing hot dogs are the only ones I'll eat. I even bring them with me when I go to my daughter's house & to Florida for the winter. Freeze them & bring them with us.
And I like mine with catsup, mustard, relish & sliced onions. Hmm,Hmm, good!!!!!

Janie T I know how you feel. Have the same thing with my spine plus loaded with arthritis. Something we have to live with...

By Cindy Barga (Hoosiergirl) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 02:54 pm:

Same here ladies. I had surgery three weeks ago to remove some of the arthritis pinching my sciatic nerve. Leg pain is gone and it seems to have alleviated the lower back pain for now. Like Cotton said, something we have to live with.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 03:05 pm:

It's a long ways from my heart however, just can't keep a good woman down right ladies!! :)

By Cindy Barga (Hoosiergirl) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 03:18 pm:

Heck No!!! My surgery was done outpatient by a very good neurosurgeon in Indianapolis. Nice to look at too. :)

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Friday, May 13, 2011 - 03:31 pm:
