It's puddle time in the Keweenaw! Now, tell the truth, wouldn't you just love to be this carefree and jump happily in the water puddles again? Kassy Kallio was able to capture the pure joy her little man was feeling as he merrily jumped and splashed his way through every puddle he could find , without a care about wet pants, feet or anything else. Kassy said his pants were soaked, but she loves to let him do things like this and it's obvious by the expression on his face in the last photo, just how much he loves to do it, too. We should all take a lesson from this little guy and enjoy those simple things that bring us joy!

And Mary...why can't you be that carefree and jump in a puddle??? There's no age limit on puddle jumping that I know of!

There's a challenge for today....I challenge Pasty Peeps...MAKE A SPLASH TODAY!!! And then tell us all what fun it was!

I play in puddles too when I'm on the ATV!

By dlp (Babyseal) on Thursday, April 14, 2011 - 08:22 am:

Morning! I play in puddles with a big stick, routing the water to drain out of the yard and down the hill. I call myself a "mud puddle engineer". Had two youngsters with me when I did it. Didn't take long for them to find their own stick and help out. Occupied them for a very long time:)

Good Morning! That darling little guy is having a blast in his green boots. It reminds me of a favorite children's book of my sons when they were about that age, with a title something like Big Sarah's New Boots. The little girl had yellow boots that she adored, and they squeaked just the way she liked when she walked, until one day, (her)
"boots are too small". She was so upset when they went boot shopping, and she had to settle for boots that were no where near as cool as her old yellow boots that are now too small! Little ones that age don't stay that age very long. Kassy, enjoy him when he goes through these wonderful young stages! :-)

One cannot help but smile at these photos, what a great way to start my day! I love that she let him be a little boy and enjoy himself so few Moms let kids do that these days, Kudos to his Mom!!

Have a great day!

Many years ago in my mid thirties taking classes for an apprenticeship and my friend would always start a splashing battle near any puddle. I taught her to catch snowflakes on her tongue, too. Like to think I'm still not too old to do either! Watched 4 eagles soaring then settling in trees near the Eagle Harbor marina this morning and a flock of 10 paired mergansers swimming there, too.

Kassy, what precious photos......you can give 'em to your little guy's wife someday. ;)

Brings back memories of little neighbor boy as he puddled by our rain spout. A darling rascal who's now been in the Marines for a good 25 years! But still is a rascal in my heart,Lance. And Richard...I have that eagel cam in Decorah Ia. on my favorites list. Watch it all day when I have a free moment. Rooting for the littlest when it doesn't get in there a grab a bite from mama. The best things in our lives can be free.

Love to see it when a parent allows their kids to get dirty or wet to have some fun. After all they will clean up or dry out won't they!! Great pics. put a smile on my face today. thanks!

Love those pictures! Isn't it great to see the world through a precious child's eyes. Enjoy these years, Kassy. They go by way too fast. Thanks for sharing.

I would Donna, but I don't believe I'm going to find much water around here as we're under an Exceptional Drought. We desparately need rain but according to our weathergirl there is not much if any in the forecast. It's been so dry here I'm scared to enjoy an adult bevarage outside for fear the glass bottle will start a wildfire.......

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Thursday, April 14, 2011 - 01:08 pm:

I remember when I was a kid, someone dared me to jump into a big puddle of water with all my clothes on and I did.
Oh, wait a minute...that was last week.

By Cindy, New Baltimore, MI (Cindy) on Thursday, April 14, 2011 - 01:32 pm:

Those pictures are adorable! I feel the fun in that smile.

Nice selection of pics. The waterfalls are especially nice.

By Laurie B. (Ratherberiding) on Thursday, April 14, 2011 - 05:42 pm:

So, so cute Kassy! I heard that one of my grandsons was in a puddle past the top of his boots. Yep, little boys are attracted to puddles like magnets!

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Thursday, April 14, 2011 - 08:05 pm:

Alex why doesn't that surprise me in the least....I needed that smile today. Do you and Uncle Chuck know each other? You both make me think of rascally little boys in big boys bodies. Thanks for the smiles both os you.

By dotti caldwell (Dotti) on Thursday, April 14, 2011 - 09:16 pm:

Glad I checked in today! These pictures are too fun! Thanks for the smile.

By eugenia r. thompson (Ert) on Thursday, April 14, 2011 - 09:29 pm:

Hurrah for puddle jumpers! I've been so happy that my grandchildren just love puddles! And you can find the cutest boots for little kids these days.

Kassy, you are such a good mom to let him do that; wet pants don't matter! And don't forget the mud pies this summer!

By Diana P. (Diana) on Friday, April 15, 2011 - 01:17 am:

Love the truck on the little guy's hat and the one in his hand! :)

Mary says: Actually, Diana, that's a John Deere tractor hat he's wearing and I'm betting it's a tractor in his hand, too! I know this little guy is obsessed with tractors and especially his Grandpa's real ones! :->

By Diana P. (Diana) on Friday, April 15, 2011 - 09:56 am:

Mary, it sounds like Kassy's son and his Grandpa share a neat tractor bond ... very cool!! As a "city girl" I tend to lump tractors in the truck category ... but I do know "nothing runs like a Deere"! My own little boy, now grown, was always talking about, playing with, reading about, or watching some type of "work" truck when he was a youngster. If there was any type of construction going on around us, we had to stop and watch those trucks! Nice to remember those times!! :)
