Vote Cast for the Barn, we've fallen to 31, is anyone else voting or have we thrown in the towel? Just asking...

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 - 03:57 pm:

The sun was warm today, the temps in the 60s, the wind out of the southwest, perfect day. No, I don't live in Florida, I live in the UP.

I've been voting every day, Uncle Chuck! I'm afraid many if not most of the others seem to have given up. We need to all pull together to get us there! Please come back & vote every day for this necessary item for everyone who lives in or visits Copper Country!

I got an e-mail today from the Humane Society of the United States asking me to vote for them in the $250,000 category. They are in second place. With a national, well-established organization like that in the running it's very hard for a small, regional, grassroots organization to compete. I personally don't think this contest was started with the idea that national organizations that have millions of followers would try for the grants, but I guess there is no rule against it. PS: I deleted the e-mail; my votes are still going for the ambulance barn.

We're still voting too ~ but Martha is right. When you look at past winners you see what we are up against.

Was wondering........since only the top 2 in the $250,000 category get the grants..... and since the top 10 in the other levels get grants...... if they could go for the $50,000 level instead? Not nearly enough to do the whole job, but certainly a nice boost.
