Love Dan's picture again and seeing the Hungarian Falls from the sky is so much fun!

Have a great day, everybody!

Mary...thanks for yesterday's photo of the Wood Tick. That is the bug that I saw crawling on my arm. I guess Lyme disease is not the problem after all.

Mary says: You are quite welcome, Alex. It was perfect timing, as I had just taken the photo of the tick a few days earlier. Looking at some of the info online, there aren't any "reported" cases of Lyme disease in the Keweenaw. Of course I'm not sure how accurate those reports are. Ticks give me the creeps...

Alex, I usually get those symptoms about the time my birthday comes around.

JT...Are you trying to say I am getting old? :)
Actually, my dentist said the same thing, but these symptoms came on so suddenly...in a matter of weeks. Geez, next thing you know, I am going to be riding a trike with a handicap sticker on the windshield.

Wonderful pictures.

When the Copper Country Humane Society won the big contest, I posted a message saying that it inspired me to think about adopting a dog. I just want to announce that we adopted a great new best friend last weekend. He is a black lab mix, 1 1/2 years old, playful, sweet, and a gentle soul. We attended the "Meet Your New Best Friend at the Zoo" which is supposedly the largest animal adoption event in the country in metro Detroit. We just love him! It is amazing how many dogs are homeless and just need someone to love them. I'm not sure how to post a picture, but I'm giving it a try:

Cindy, congratulations on your new member of the family. Your dog looks exactly like my daughters dog named Daisy. They think she is a Great Dane but she could have a little lab in her. Daisy is great with the grandchildren (ages 5 and 8) and is so gentle. I also have two dogs that I adopted, one is a little terrier mix that I adopted 4 years ago and he is now 5 yrs. old the other dog is a basset hound I adopted 2 years ago and she also is five now. They are my joy and get along great with each other and the grandchildren.

Alex, I ride a trike now. Lost my balance and Precious bought me a tricycle, no motor. Foot powered. Tires need air right now. Tomorrow will be the day that I air the tires. Gives me a sense of freedom when I ride it.

Cindy: Good for you. I am constantly amazed by how many
creatures are abandoned. We adopted our dog, Rusty, from the
Toronto Humane Society fourteen years ago. He was four years old
then. He has been a well loved member of the family for all of
these years. He's eighteen now and slow moving, but the love is
still there on both sides.
