Every now and then our month-end memorial falls on a Sunday, when we normally have a Shoebox Memory of a U.P.-related subject. Today we combine the two, with our list of honored names below, and an older photo above from our sizable online Shoebox (aka The Guest Gallery). Steve Brimm captures the stark beauty of dead spruce overlooking a typically breathtaking Keweenaw shoreline. This happens to be one of my favorite photos from the Guest Gallery. Our thanks to Steve for providing for the Pasty Cam so many scenes of beauty over the years.

Here are just a few of the names we recall, of those who have passed on this year. You are welcome to note the names of any others to be remembered along with these:

Jon Davis
Sean Fontaine
Martha Fraki
Bianca "Blanche" Girardi
Naomi Koepel Kolb
Robert "Tootsie" Roy
Servicemen and women who've given their all

Have a good week :o)

Mr. Brimm...you've been kissed by God Himself to get such fantastic shots! Bless you....

And from Neale Donald Walsch's Conversations with God:

On the day you leave your body -- what I like to call your Continuation Day -- you will be greeted by everyone you have ever loved in any way for any reason...and, standing in front of the group, every person who has been so very dear to you. It will be a grand and glorious reunion, with joy and laughter and pure wonderment filling every heart and soul!

This has also been experienced by everyone who has ever left here -- all those who have gone before you -- of course. So do not grieve for them. They are so very happy!

And I absolutely believe this...and I KNOW my Dad is doing a Happy Dance to have Tootsie back with him...those two were inseparable fishin' buddies!

Steve, what a gorgeous shot to end the month with!

I didn't know that Tootsie Roy died!!! When we get to this age, it seems that everybody we know is passing away. So sad.

But today I remember a young man who was 21 years old, coming home from job hunting, who was extremely tired and fell asleep at the wheel. He crossed the center line head on into a semi. He hadn't been home from Iraq for very long. Such a shame and so hard on his family. I hope he's in a better place now.

Donna, that was beautiful! My dad knew Tootsie well, too. A lot of people that he knew have joined him in the last year or so. A cousin, Gertie Durocher, joined him this month. They were card playing buddies! So, I'm remembering Gertie this month also. I'm sure she's happier now since she'd been suffering with cancer for quite some time.

Donna, your quote from Neale Donald Walsch's "Conversations with God" is wonderful! I lost my sister just over a year ago. It's a very comforting quote.
