Good Morning. Are you about ready for Christmas? We got a surprise last night, when our oldest son appeared, two days ahead of time. It's always good to have him home. :-) Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

Good morning Marianne and congrads on the early bird. I am going to Wish every one an Early Merry Christmas cause i may be very busy these next few days. God willing this will be my last Christmas in Florida. I have been invited to spenad Christmas day with another PastyCammer who resides in Florida. I am sure we never would have met had it not been for the wonderful people of the UP.

Good evening (or I suppose afternoon now in the UP) from Trier, Germany!! What a wonderful experience to celebrate a Christmas in Germany. Dr. Nat and I just got through wandering around a Christmas market and had a bratwurst and Gluwein for dinner. Trier is the oldest city in Germany as it was founded in 16 BC by Emperor Augustus himself. By the 5th century the city had over 70,000 before it was destroyed by the Germanic tribes.

For the past couple days, we have beem traveling around the Vulcaneifel in western Germany/Luxemburg/Belgium area. We got to see several old maar volcanoes and even got a little too close to a cold water geyser; it almost got us as we looked down the hole!! To give you an idea; the Eifel is a larger, more hilly version of the Keweenaw with thick forests and many farm fields. We have been driving through a lot of snow for this area of Europe, and it has been quite chilly.

Once we get back, I'll post a few photos from our trip.....

I'm wondering if the Northwest Airline pilots in the 2004 photo overshot Cincinnati, OH and landed in Houghton instead. :)

I like all the photos, especially the snowy ones + the vintage Christmas tree.

Capt Paul -

Can't wait to see your photos - sounds beautiful!

Seems my Dad spent a few weeks in those thick forests back in 1944. Hope it isn't as cold as it was back then!
