Will Helen or Gary break the tie by naming the lake in Cam Notes?

By Helen in the U. P.! (Lahelo) on Friday, July 17, 2009 - 06:16 am:

Roadside view of Lake Superior?

By Dennis Kemper (Denkem) on Friday, July 17, 2009 - 06:35 am:

I believe its Rice Lake.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, July 17, 2009 - 07:20 am:

Good morning! I believe it's Rice Lake also.

The pictures are all so wonderful this morning. I love the bee photo.

It's cold here the past few days. Feels more like late September than the middle of July.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Ansel Adams was a photographer of the environment, and he noted that we all move on the fringes of eternity...and are sometimes granted vistas through the fabric of illusion...this is often the case here on Pasty Cam!

"Helen in the U.P.!" wins. Here is some posting from the Archives

By JAD, Oskar
Known as Brunette Park after a guy who lived in Lake Linden but groomed that area until the township folks finally named it after him.

By ALD Mi
This park was named in honor of I think George Brunette who was a major league pitcher.I don't recall what teams he played for nor what years he played.

By GC/old Mohawk
If I remember correctly Brunette Park was named after Charlie Brunette who resided in Mohawk during the late 40's and 50's.I believe he was one of Keweenaw County's WWII Vets.

By EK - MI
Brunette Park was named after Oliver Brunette, who lived in the town of Gay. He was the township supervisor and also owned the bar in town. The park is also called Betsey Park by some of the locals

I take that back, no winner yet. Name the lake in the today's Cam notes, not the Decade in Review.

By JimH (Jhattica) on Friday, July 17, 2009 - 08:52 am:

It is Rice Lake, we used to call it seagull rock and
the lake bed around it was covered in broken clam
shells

Great pics.

My mom always said Brunette Wayside Park was named after her Uncle Oliver Brunette, grandma Virginia Brunette Slattery's brother. Suppose to have been quite active in the Gay area and maybe a supervisor at the copper site, either smelter or whatever was there.

Sorry, couldn't do tie-breaker....was at work.
