Snow over here, snow over there, snow, snow, everywhere! Joyce Tormala and Brooke Gubacz, seemed to have the same idea capturing the snowflakes up close. Joyce caught just a few of them as they dangled from some dried grasses, before falling to the ground and Brooke captured a bunch of them, piled softly on a bare tree branch. In both of their photos, you can see the delicate makings of this flake from Mother Nature. Then you look at the third photo, where Brooke stepped outside and snapped a shot of her clotheslines with the snow piled underneath quite high. Makes you think again about how delicate these flakes are, yet they can pile up to depths like that, making sure Brooke won't get to hang clothes for many more months.

Lovely Pictures, looks like I went to the LP just ahead of the Monday storm. Back for more this weekend.

Great photos! The third one looks like it could be my mom's back yard!!!! We'll see what it looks like a week from tomorrow. She says the snow is half way up her front window from the snow blowing. SHEESH!!

Deb S. don't know if you remember Joe Perreault. his dad used to own the 5 and 10 cent store but he told me yesterday that you graduated in 1970 and were Ben Derouchers daughter. I will be in Lake Linden on June 7 through the following week.
Usually make a trip or two into the Loading Zone at night-maybe we can hook up and talk about old times.

All that snow looks pretty UP there!

By Joy Brewer (Joy) on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - 09:17 am:

The clothes line photo brings back memories of the winter of 1978-79. When I tell people about how much snow we got then, they find it hard to believe. Every time someone complains here about how many inches of snow they have, I tell them about that winter. Thanks for the photos; I have already shared the photos with a co-worker, and he can't believe the amount of snow that they have back home. I also informed him that the Copper Country still has six more weeks of winter (The last storm is usually around St. Patrick's Day, if my memory is correct.)! Thanks for being my eyes!!!

My favorite picture is the backyard-clothes line one. Where I live they do not want you putting up a clothes lines. They say they do not want to see clothes hanging everywhere.

The St. Patrick's Day storm is every year. We went to visit my mom in March of 06 and I wanted to leave before the storm hit and my mom wanted us to stay one more day and here came the storm. We shoveled out around the truck 3 times to keep up with it. Made mom happy though. ;O)

I got excited when I saw the snow clinging to the trees perfectly. Was less excited when I had to clean it up.

Good morning ya'll from Rockport Texas!
sorry to hear about the snow and cold up your way. I was chilly this
morning, down to 46 degrees and ONLY getting to 75 today! No-
no don't hit me with that wet noodle! My trip down here has been
great, wonderful friends welcoming me! Looks like I might have to
stay 'til spring! Those photos are beautiful, nothing so artistic as
the blue of snow drifts.

That Texas weather sounds boring...
although it would give me an opportunity to wash a car!

By FRNash/PHX, AZ (Frnash) on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - 02:11 pm:

For the last week or so in Phoenix, AZ we've been having morning lows in the low to mid 40s and afternoon highs in the low to mid 70s. This week it looks as though the highs will be playing with the 80° mark for a few days (The high yesterday was 82°, but only on a brief peak between 2-5PM.) before "plunging" back to highs in the mid 60s to low 70s and lows in the mid to high 40s for the coming week, with 30-40% chance of rain this weekend.

Yes, 'tis tough to take!

Was I disappointed at missing out on the 20" snow dump yesterday in Houghton? Naww!

Beautiful snowflake and Winter scenes.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - 05:32 pm:

We had a low of +11 last night in Knoxville Still snow on the ground, and some flakes falling now and then. I hope our Spring comes sooner then 6 weeks.

By E. Neil Harri (Ilmayksi) on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - 07:08 pm:

It is absolutely the best time of year up here. The only tourist traffic is on the snowmobile trails. Blackflies and company are hibernating.
I can use my fireplace every night.
I get to plow every day. My dog likes that. I get a lot of instrument approaches in the plane. There is plenty of snow for my winter animal surveys. Days are getting longer. Winter carnival this weekend.Great sleeping weather. A lot more scratch cooked homemade meals than summer. No sun burn. You can always put more clothes on but can only take so many off. You don't have to pay for air conditioning. You have to go suana to sweat. Ice fishing is better in winter.
Spring can take its time getting here as far as I am concerned.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - 07:48 pm:

TO; E. NEIL HARRI: I LOVE what you wrote. To me winter has always been a peaceful time of year. Just a beautiful time of year. Take a walk and hear the snow crunching under your feet with no one else around. Look at all the bird nests in the trees and the beehives or are they hornets nests? It really is a nice time of year.

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - 08:31 pm:

E. Neil, can I hang out with you for a week or two?

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - 10:01 pm:

E. Neil Harri, I love your description of winter!
