Today marks the 8th Anniversary of the attack on the United States by Islamic terrorists Well, listen to the news coverage today. Sure, you'll hear plenty of mentions of the terrorist attack, but somehow you don't hear the words Muslim or Islamic. It's been 68 years since Pearl Harbor, but to this day it is still referred to as the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor. As was the case with Muslims in 2001, not all Japanese were behind the attack on December 7, 1941. Still, it's the Japanese attack. It was the Islamic attack on America eight years ago and we need to remember that. Islamic radicals are still dedicated to the idea of destroying our country or our culture this is threat we cannot ignore.

The phrase, "war on terror" has fallen out of favor. Obama avoids using it, he says, to keep from offending Muslims..........

I've said from the beginning that I was afraid his loyalties would lie with the Muslims, and not with Americans. That, of course, is just my opinion.

Let us always remember the day the Muslims attacked our country. Gorgeous pictures to remember those who lost their lives 8 years ago today. In 5 minutes, I will make sure there's a moment of silence in my home to remember them.

That is a real Patriotic thing to say. Whether you're a Republican or Democrat President Obama is still the President of OUR United States of America. So until he comes out to hold a press conference in the Rose Garden denouncing American interest and proclaiming he was not born in the U.S. that he is a hard core Muslim Radical preaching about Allah with the Quran in his right hand and making Michelle Obama wear a burka and pulling his daughters from school because they are girls and have no rights to an education, Why don't you show some RESPECT for the President of OUR United States of America.

I am Polish and Roman Catholic from Detroit, I served in the U.S. Navy during the first Persian Gulf War, I have a Family of Bosnians living next to me, they are Muslim, that is their religion, being Muslim does not make them a terrorist.

Being a terrorist makes someone a terrorist.

David, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor because the Japanese did attack Pearl Harbor, just like Germany invaded Poland, France, Denmark, Norway etc. hense the words World War Two.

Muslims did not attack the U.S., Terrorist Attacked the U.S.

Germany did not create the holocaust, Hitler created the holocaust.

I know several Muslims, good people who were horrified by the attack and denounced terrorism. Let's not judge all Muslims by the politically motivated ones who did this. We don't condemn all white Christians when one bombed the federal building in Oklohoma.

I agree that they're not all to blame, but it's the way it is. The Japanese were not all at fault either. It's just hard because you don't know who they could be.

We all have our opinions and this is probably best moved to the political page.

George H.W.Bush had "his" war on drugs and Bushie 2 had "his" War on terror. neither one is working. We have had a new president now for 8 months so lets give him a fair chance.

Thanks Deb, FJL, and David for keeping things in perspective. That is how history has it. We may not like it but it is the truth. I hope our guard against terrorism stays alert, they are constantly looking for an opening for another chance. Enjoy your freedom everyone.

Mr. Aubin, My Precious is a Roman Catholic 100% Polish very conservative Republican, anti union and just about every thing that I stood for she was against. But after forty three years together she has still not changed her ideas. We have had many a lively conversation. Now in my declining years I find myself becoming more conservative in my thinking. As far as Obama bashing goes, the democrats should remember how they bashed President Bush during his presidency. So now the conservatives, can't call myself a Republican, have their chance to do some bashing. Who ever gets elected next shall be bashed as well. Instead of being proud of our Presidents, we have tarnished their reputations. It is the American way. Too bad.

Deb, I disagree with your first remark in the sense that I think the President of the U.S. deserves our support for one of the toughest jobs there is. We, the people, voted him into office and I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt. That's how I feel, personally...it doesn't mean I don't respect your feelings on this, however, as you are entitled.

Being a terrorist makes someone a terrorist you said Well these terrorist's 8 years just happen to be Islamic Muslim's.

I'm so sorry that so many of you disagee with my view. Believe it or not, many people e-mailed me personally saying that they DO agree with my view but didn't want to put it on here.

Was it or was it not Muslims who attacked our country? Why are we not supposed to say that, but just that terrorists attacked our country? Well, those terrorists were Muslims. And I do know that there are many good Muslims out there. Unfortunately, we're not sure who the good ones are and who the bad ones are so we have to be on our guard, as with all races.

As far as our President goes, believe it or not, I've had an open mind. This has been my first impression of him from the beginning and he's done nothing to change my view. I'm waiting for him to prove to us that his loyalties lie with us. Time will tell, and if he is truly a loyal American, I will be the first to say I was wrong and I will truly be happy.

When will come the day when no human being will judge another by his or her religion or a religion by the acts of a few?

It is true of white people as with any other race. Sometimes we are judged by the acts of the few. For the most part, every race is good. There are the few who ruin it for everybody.

I think the situation regarding 9-11 is that a bunch of nuts attacked the USA. Yes, they were certainly Muslims but they weren't members of the "Islamic Army". That's the difference between al Qaeda and the German or Japanese militaries of WWII. If it was somehow shown that the 9-11 attacks were somehow funded or supplied by the Saudi Arabian or Iranian militaries, then it would be proper to blame an Islamic institution such as one of those governments. With that, a whole lot of Muslims would also wind up deserving blame, but I've yet to see more than a very tiny army of Muslims declare war on the U.S.
The most important thing is that many of the people responsible for the attacks are still walking the earth and breathing. I think just about all of us can agree that something should be done about that.

Seems like a lot of people have a hard time admiting that those that attacked the US were Muslim. They prefer to call em 'terrorists' so as to not upset the Muslim Nation.

Let me ask this question..... Where is the outcry and condemnation of those terrorists from the Muslim Nation. The silence is deafining. The slaughter of innocent Muslims by terrorist Muslims brings nothing from the leaders of the Muslim Nation but silence. That silence could mean in-difference or condonation of those barbaric acts.

They seem to be sending a message that their only concern is saying 'Muslim Terrorists' rather than just 'terrorists'. That seems to upset them and others more than all of the violent and in-humane murders being commited in the name of Allah....

FJL, I have often wondered, too, why those Muslim
countries govts are so silent regarding terrorist attack on their own people. Sometimes silence on a matter indicates approval.

I, too, have wondered why the silence. However, in our culture it may signal approval, but in their culture, it most likely signals a desire to live. To openly criticize radical Islamists (or their religion) would bring down the wrath of Allah, just as some journalists/cartoonists in Europe learned, not to mention what they'd do to a fellow Muslim that dared speak out against them. Makes me shiver to think what they'd receive as punishment.

On September 25th there will be a national prayer gathering of Muslims on the west front of the U.S. Capitol Building. At least 50,000 are expected to attend from mosques all across America. Prayer will be from 4:00 AM until 7:00 PM. All denominations are welcome.
