Over the years we have tried to bring a photo of at least one sign each week. On this day in the past decade, in how many years were signs visible? (name the years)

By Smfwlk (Trollperson) on Thursday, December 18, 2008 - 06:04 am:

1998, 1999, 2003, 2007

Morning! Can't say it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, but I guess it's typical CC weather. My dad would have said as he's looking out his kitchen window at the falling snow, "Still love it here, though!" Every time I look out that window since I've been here, that's what I think. Brings tears to my eyes but hopefully the healing will begin soon. He loved the CC so. He would have never left it. After a while has passed, it'll be time to try to talk my mom into leaving it so she doesn't spend the rest of her life alone. Most of her grandchildren are in MN, and she'd have a lot of company out there. We'll see how she survives the winter.

Okay, I guess it's time to shut this thing down and get packed. I sure hope the roads are decent. We were supposed to leave yesterday, but the weather here and down the line didn't cooperate.

Have a great day everybody!!!!

Oh yeah, the 2006 picture of the bridge is beautiful! I've really missed seeing the decade in review. When I get home and settled I'm going to have to go back and look at them all.

Will be with you (the debs) on the drive!

Deb and Mr. Deb: You'll be in my thoughts and prayers as you
drive today. Your mom will be in them too.

Drive carefully Debs. Prayers are coming your way.

Good Morning, Everyone! We have another, in a series of winter storms, headed our way (mid-Michigan), late tonight and tomorrow. This looks like it will be a long, cold winter, at least here. We are a long ways ahead of last year, the record year, in total snow to date.

Have a safe journey, Mr & Mrs Deb. And, watch out for the wild animals on the roadway. (I had mentioned watching out for animals on the road, on the Mich Tech parent email list. And, just a couple of days later, a car of Tech students on their way home for Christmas break, hit a deer just about 10 mins from Tech. Fortunately, no one was injured, the car did not have much damage, and it was drivable for the rest of trip home! They were very lucky, indeed!)

I though of Prof. William Gregg when I saw the 2003 photo. I'm assuming the shaft in the photo is not the one he fell down.

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Thursday, December 18, 2008 - 08:15 am:

Great pic of the bridge reflection!

Debs- Keep the shiney side up and the dirty side down, safe travels!

By Dale Beitz (Dbeitz) on Thursday, December 18, 2008 - 08:43 am:

Alex: The shaft in the picture (according to the caption) is associated with the old Beaufort Mine which is somewhere around Marquette, and is not the one that Dr Gregg fell down. The shaft Dr Gregg fell down is the Quincy #2, which is the shafthouse you see on top of the hill over Hancock. The article in the newspaper indicated that he was installing escape ladders in the shaft when he fell.

That is my "guess" too. I manipulated the image in PS Elements as best I could and still couldn't be sure of "Tablets."

Have a safe drive home Mr & Mrs Deb. May your angels be on your shoulders. Glad you're not heading for the Milwaukee or Chicago area. They're supposed to really get hit. I know Chicago has already gotten it. My son is coming home from Milwaukee today from work. Told him to tell the boss he's cuttin out early so this Mom isn't worrying all day.
Sun's out here today.

By bill d-howellmi (Billdolkey) on Thursday, December 18, 2008 - 04:17 pm:

Hey! the man on the left is my Dad, Wesley Dolkey from Bumbletown..it's great to see him today. he passed away in 1993. the girl is my aunt (Mom's sister) Martha (Mitzi) Dorffi, from Allouez, "swamp location", later her married name was Rader.

EVERYBODY IS WAITING FOR THE STORM TO COME THROUGH AT 4:00 AM. EVERYBODY IN THE LANSING AND SOUTH OF LANSING AREA, BE CAREFUL IF YOU HAVE TO GET OUT IN IT.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Friday, December 19, 2008 - 07:32 am:

Hi, it's Friday and I got to work here in Lansing with no trouble at all. The roads are snow covered, but the snow gives good traction. Just drop it down in low to take off from a stop and you'll have no problem. I hope we don't get the inch of snow an hour they are still predicting before it ends this evening. Happy and safe driving everyone. I guess winter is really here even though it doesn't officially start until Sunday.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Friday, December 19, 2008 - 07:38 am:

YUP! THE SNOW IS REALLY COMING DOWN OUT THERE AND EVERYBODY BE EXTRA CAREFUL OUT THERE DRIVING AROUND.
