It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here UP North! If you're out and about in the evening hours, you'll see the telltale signs with all the lights strung in people's windows, like these that Ashley Byykkonen just happened to capture. They're giving off such a golden glow it reminds me of a crackling fire in a fireplace making you feel cozy and warm.

Ginny Pietila photographed another of the signs that Christmas is near...the infamous Peanut Butter Blossom cookie. One of my favorites to be sure. Looks like Ginny is all set for Santa's visit with his snack laid out and waiting for his arrival down the chimney.

And lastly, one of the cutest signs that Christmas has arrived, is the number of baby Santas you see. A girl and a boy for samplers this Christmas Eve… First, Charlie and Edie's new granddaughter Kira, from parents Bryan and Becky Howard. What a little punkin, as Edie would say. The second jolly little elf is from Peter Tormala. I love the pose and the look on his face. It's like he just slid down the chimney and is glad that ride is over! :-> Children and babies... that's what Christmas is all about. The wonderment, the joy, the beauty of this holy season. Let's take time to remember the "Reason for the Season." Merry Christmas!

As Linus would say, "That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown!" Ain't it the truth?

The second baby picture. from PETER TORMALA- looks like he sliding down a snow covered hill on his sled for the first time and KIRA looks like she should be put on a Christmas card.;O)

Love all the pictures. Our 'young' next door neighbors gave us some homemade choclate-covered peanut butter balls. They were pretty good.

'MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL'

My Mother alway's said "To see the love of God look into the eyes of a child".

Alex, I think I would want you on my team for Baby Boomer Trivial Pursuit. You sure know a lot of song lyrics. I'm pretty good at geography. I'm going to have to get someone to play Trivial Pursuit with me this holiday season...it's my favorite game. I hope Santa is extra good to all of you this year. Thankfully our winter weather advisory has been cancelled for Lansing so it should be easy going for Santa and the reindeer. I'm about to make some Peanut Butter Blossoms myself...I'm not sure if Santa will actually get any of them. ;-)

Yup! Looks like a baby to me. May the good Lord bring peace and happiness to everyone at this special time of year; "Merry Christmas" and "Happy New Year" to all.

It is raining here right now. Guess it will melt a lot of the snow and then freeze some of it, too. That is Michigan for ya.

Once again, Everybody have a safe and a very MERRY CHRISTMAS.

For those who are flying home today, I'd like to say Merry Christmas to all and to all a good flight! Safe travels.

Oh my gosh, Ginny Pietila is a name I haven't heard in forever. What is she up to now? I just caught that for some reason. I think she's one of the girls I used to babysit for.

Love the babies! I heard it said one time, that a new baby is a sign that God hasn't given up on the world! Those two are precious. Wishing all a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

Great pics. Regarding the Christmas lights pic, I can never get enough of seeing beautiful Christmas lights. Have a Merry Christmas, everybody. God bless us, everyone.

I attended the Angel Mass this evening at Holy Childhood Church in Harbor Springs, and because we were so crowded I has the delight of sharing my choir seat with a little girl in a red velvet dress. Such a sweetheart! She really made the Mass special. I needed to be needed tonight, as this is the first Christmas without Mom who died in the autumn. The little girl reminded me that life goes on, generation after generation. God bless everyone this Christmas and throughout the new year.

Well, here is it Christmas morning. I think I just heard the prancing and pawing of some reindeer hooves on my roof. I hope you're all ready for the big day. Merriest Christmas to all!
