Here in the Keweenaw, we haven't really received any large amounts of snow yet, just a few inches here and there. So the ground looks pretty much like these first two shots from one of our newer Guest Gallery Album owners, Pete Carlson. The edge of the bridge he's standing on is still snow covered and I imagine slippery, also. But the water is running under it without any icy edges formed as of yet. It won't be much longer though and there will be a crust of ice over the top of that river.

Some other areas of the U.P. have gotten hit a little harder with the accumulations though and have more of that "white gold" on the ground and in the trees too. Pete was able to find a bit of snow clinging to the pine needles, a scene which always makes me think of Christmas trees. Time to start thinking about getting out there and cutting your tree down or heading over to the local tree lot and picking one out there.

I drove through all that white gold last night. It is a lot more than we had so far in the Copper Country and not a fun ride.

Great photo of that white gold. YIPPEE!!! We too finally got some here in Menominee. It certainly brightens up the landscape. :)

Going out now to try the skiing. I am certain it will not be the best but better than not at all.

I've always loved snow. Of course as a kid it was for toboggoning, sleding, snowmen plus my favorite..ice skaing. Now if we could figure how to keep it from landing on roads what a wonderful possibility!!! As I get older I appreciate it mostly from indoors though.(humming..." in the lane snow is glistening...")

I'm with you MsKatie...our roads were a sheet of ice last night and this morning. The snow is very pretty on the hills and trees, but I don't know why it lands on the roads too??? Nothing pretty about that....

I am so homesick that I could cry me a river. It is cold and been snowing here in the Valley of Knoxville.

Up at my sons place down the road a bit from our "camp" in north central Kalkaska county there is 15" already and another 15" forecast in the next few days! Typical for there being in the middle of the Lake Michigan lake effect snow belt. Snowmobilers mecca!
