Every morning the Pasty Cam is published from our office at home in Eagle River, above the dunes overlooking Lake Superior. This morning the lonely horns of the ships through the fog are echoing across those dunes.

Good morning all! We had a great weekend here.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, June 23, 2008 - 07:48 am:

Good Monday Morning to you all! Six months from tomorrow nite, Santa comes! 2008 half over all ready, time flys!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Monday, June 23, 2008 - 07:56 am:

I will be passing by those dunes next week on the Wing (see profile)...can't wait.

Nice photos today...the car show photo in Houghton reminds me of the Dream Cruise that takes place in August on Woodward Avenue. For all the classic car enthusiasts out there who have never been, it's a must-see.

Beautiful machine Alex, had one myself years ago but mostly Harley's.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, June 23, 2008 - 08:04 am:

Good morning! We had a beautiful weekend, and since I only work 1/2 day today, I think it will continue this afternoon.

Have a great day everybody!

RCW, I share your Harley interest, I have owned three, now riding my forth. But I used a Honda Rebel to learn how to ride 20+ yrs. ago.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Monday, June 23, 2008 - 08:20 am:

RCW / Janie: I was actually looking at a Harley touring bike when I bought the Wing. I'm a big music lover and after scrutinizing all the motorcycle stereos available in 2006, the one on the Wing is what sold me…the sound is incredible.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, June 23, 2008 - 08:33 am:

I have heard that about the radios, Alex. A lot of "bikers" have mentioned the sound quality. When I ride, the wind and the low "rumble" is my music, under my helmet of course. :)

Dang! Monday morning all ready?? I wanted to call in today, but I already have Friday off and I do have something of a very small conscience. I am going to IKEA in Canton on Friday. That store is so fun! You can easily spend the entire day there. I can't wait!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, June 23, 2008 - 09:36 am:

I have to agree with Alex; the dream cruise is quite a site to see. We were there last year and I will always have fond memories of it because it was the last time I saw my Uncle before he passed on in December. We have our cruise in here every Saturday night that draws around 300 cars, but it's nothing like the Woodward dream cruise.

The Dr. and I won't be up there this year (Scotland trip in a couple weeks), but if gas prices come down a little we might make the trip next year in the Roadrunner, where the only music is the low rumble of the exhaust out the back......

The fog burned off and its shaping up to be pretty nice out there. Was going to ride my bike (the one powered by me) but another flat, so off to Cross Country Sports after work they will take care of me.

Have fun in Scotland Capt & Doc.

An article and great photos of the Upper Peninsula made the July issue of "Outdoor Photographer". You can check it out at www.outdoorphotographer.com if you are not a subscriber.

Bobbysgirl. Yep nothing like a Harley. I had 3 also and did end up with a Goldwing which is nice machine.I started out with a 1948 61. Boy the ole kick start and suicide clutch that was fun. I ll have to look up a photo to send you.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, June 23, 2008 - 03:13 pm:

RCW...my last Harley, before back surgery, was a kick starter, a '77 XLCH. It was a fun bike! Took me about a week to figure out just how to kick it over without it kicking back. It had drag pipes and I ran racing high octane gas in it, when I down shifted fire would pop out of the pipes. It was strongly suggested by the surgeon who did my back to take 5 years to heal and get a Harley with electric start, so I did.

RCW / Janie: After reading about your Harley's, I really started feeling like a wimp, so I had to find something cool about Goldwings. Here is what I found:

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, June 23, 2008 - 05:32 pm:

Alex, your not a whimp! A lot of folks ride Goldies here. My brother has one. No one believes I own/ride a Harley because I'm vertically challenged! I'm only 5ft. and weigh 112lbs. My XL883L frame fits my frame the best.

Alex (UP-Goldwinger), thanks for posting that site...it's really neat, even though I'm not a big fan of motorcycles I enjoyed visiting the site. (cycles scare me) Our son has a Harley, so I pray a lot.:)
