On this day in 1998 a labor dispute erupted in the county seat of Keweenaw, Michigan's northernmost county. The issue was not wages or overtime, but rather management's refusal to provide adequate digital cameras.

Mornin'

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Monday, June 9, 2008 - 05:28 am:

Good morning! We are operating on generator power as the storms keep going through our area. As we made our way through open houses Sunday afternoon, a couple of storms went through, knocking down trees and wires and tents. The county road commission put snow blades on a couple of trucks and drove all the roads to clear fallen trees and debris.

Good morning! Just what is "The Bucket"?

No storms here over the weekend. It was actually fairly nice and we spent Sunday on the lake catching supper.

Hope you all had a good weekend. I know somoe of our fellow pasty-cammers got hit with some storms but they seemed to have survived thank goodness.

Whew! What a weekend! I've never spent so much time in my bathroom. I live in an apartment on the third floor facing southwest...yikes! My power went out Saturday night at 11:00 p.m. and it's still not on. Had to come to work to charge my phone. My drive to work takes me past the area hardest hit in Lansing, where a woman was killed when her travel trailer blew over on top of her. There were so many trees just ripped out of the ground, roots and all. Maybe they can be replanted because it looks like the root ball is intact. What a mess and they are predicting more storms for today. Enough already Mother Nature!!

Deb S , The Bucket was a bar and bowling alley once owned by Crabby Jack.

Crabby Jack...now that's an interesting name.

Do I see a Kodak Instamatic on display there? I don't think they even sell that clunky film anymore. That was my first camera!

Had a good variety in todays past.

Brook I've had a camera since I've been 12 years old (and I'm over 60 now!)Still was a favorite camera of mine. Had several. Used even above my 35mm Pentex once in a while. The one I really miss is a disposable Panarama, they discontinued a couple years ago. Great sunrises and sunsets for painting references.

The Bucket was in a fact a bar and it did have one bowling alley in it. The bucket was located directly across the road from my grandparents home. On Friday nights my grandmother would sit in her bedroom window and pray for the miners and logers from Ray Aldrich's lumber yard because she knew they were headed to the Bucket with their wages in their pockets. Each and every time we are in the Copper Country we stop and look at the bucket. The home is still there also.
