It's not something you think of doing as much in the snowy weather months, as in the sunshine months, but that didn't stop Brooke Gubacz and company from spending a day at the beach. These photos were taken along M-26, somewhere between Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor and it looks like the kids were having a blast, playing on the ice. You can almost hear their laughter, celebrating the sheer joy of being outdoors in the fresh, crisp air.

Hi
Just so the parents are keeping an eye out. Ice on the Great Lakes is a lot less stable than on some small inland pond. My kid brother & I can attest to that, from our younger days.

The first photo looks like a curling match.

These pictures make me feel sad for the kids in the Richmond Virginia area. This is the second year in a row where we have not even had a tracking snow on the ground. The pictures make me want to move to the U.P. just for winter-but I KNOW I would never want to leave.

The blue on the ice is what attracted our attention, looked like glaciers. many of you know that park its the one with pit toilets and quite a few picnic tables with a square gazebo overlooking the rocks. Not plowed this time of year but they had the shoulder real wide there so you could stop.

Ed & Dee in Columbus,OH

51 years ago today I married a Yooper and brought her back to Columbus,it looks like the weather is about the same as then. She always tells me you can take the girl out of the UP,but you can't take the UP out of the girl. She still misses it,but we try to make it up every summer..What great luck it was for me to be sent to Houghton,by the army,to meet the love of my life.

I remember one time sliding down the ice to the "beach" and then realizing that I couldn't get back up. I had to walk about a quarter-mile until the roadway came down to the lake level.
