A little delay on the Pasty Cam this morning due to complications from the extreme cold. brrrr!

For awhile this morning this page simply repeated the "Logging Odds 'n Ends" Cameo. Later it was replaced with the collage of the years of the Pasty Cam on this date. Comments relating to the logging cameo were moved to the Cam Notes main page.

Good Morning everyone. -6 degrees and blizzard conditions here in Houghton.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 08:51 am:

It's cold here too. I believe we're at a balmy negative 15. Ridiculous!

By Daveofmohawk (Daveofmohawk) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 12:07 pm:

Deb S.: Negative 15. That's worst than Mohawk, MI.; it's minus 8 here with a wind chill of minus 36. By the way Deb where is here?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 12:17 pm:

Here is Annandale, MN. It's about 60 miles NW of the twin cities, and 25 miles SE of St. Cloud. We are along the International Falls pipeline. If you heard on the news yesterday, they have been honored with the coldest place in the United States. Oh yeah, it's all the way up to -10 now. We're having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave.

By Kathy P. (Katiaire) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 12:25 pm:

Congrats on your Early Bird, Deb.
Really, really cold here in IL, also. It's -4; haven't heard the wind chill factor yet, but the wind is whipping. Have to go out and check the ducks and see what I can do to make their day bearable.

By Peg Hardt (Almostup) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 01:12 pm:

Charlie, I'm enjoying the daily Pasty Cameos so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you! One more question - Was there a cameo for February 5?

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 02:36 pm:

It has dropped to 0 in our neck of the woods. I thought temps went up as the day progressed?!!! David A., if you went to the Ladies of the Lights program at the Fenton Library, let us know how it was. Or did you stay in and keep warm?

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 04:47 pm:

The Detroit Free Press had a nice article today about the Mich. Tech ice sculpturing at Houghton, by Susan Agar. Very interesting!

We are having a Blizzard here in Sault Ste Marie today. The Mac Bridge is closed, US-2 is closed,I-75 from M-28 closed to International Bridge and M-28 closed from Marquette to Munising. If we are lucky we will not have school tomorrow.

By Mr. Bill (Mrbill) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 05:59 pm:

Route 41 is closed, Delaware to Copper Harbor. Add one more log to the fire ....

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 06:08 pm:

Marsha,
Dropped to 0??? We never made it that high today! I think the warmest I saw was -6. Oh well, keeps the tourists away...
Mr. Deb

WOW! I saw the pics this morning on tech's cam and felt sorry for all the people who could not go out to see the statues, but this is unreal with all the roads closed. Hope everyone is safely hunkered down.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 11:43 pm:

I guess you could say you are having a White Tornado U.P. North. At least one can say you can hunker down, as was said, but alot more compfortable, then we here in the South can.

I can relate to the cold, it will be in the upper teens to low twenty's here overnite. Burrr!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 - 11:49 pm:

Dave, my heart just bleeds ice crystals for you! Drop'er down about 30 to 35 more degrees, then it's cold.
Mr. Deb

Why thank you Ron ( Mr.Deb ) you know this is the place to go when one is looking for sympathy. We are all here to lend a ear for each other, to give you a ear full. This is cold to us down here, where it has been in the 70's and then your gosh darn wind starts blowing down the Ohio Valley from MN. IL.. So it is your fault anyway, but I forgive you. Thanks to all of you who sent personal E=e-mail (Poor Baby Cards) to me, to overwhelming many to mention one by one. Your all fine people, yes indeed.
