Eight years ago we grabbed this Pasty Cam shot on the way back from downstate. I seem to recall that some of these buildings have since burned down. Anybody know the facts?

Good Morning, Everyone! Trollperson, you have getting the Early Bird thing down to an art now. I lost count of how many you have had lately; good going.

Good morning everybody! It is so darn cold here! I think it's negative 15. Sure hate to go out to work today. BRRRRR!!!

By Jeff Kalember (Jeffkal) on Thursday, January 24, 2008 - 09:33 am:

last time i drove by in august they were all there.

By Smfwlk (Trollperson) on Thursday, January 24, 2008 - 10:00 am:

I think they were all there when I went by in October. Cute place - too bad they went out of business.
Thanks, Marianne.

These cottages were always a marker on any trip UP in this area. I hope they're still there. Never could stop tho. Everyone have a warm Thursday, or as best you can. Negative about 12 with wind chill near 20! You know I'm not going anywhere myself!

By Snowman (Snowman) on Thursday, January 24, 2008 - 06:18 pm:

What happened to the cottage by the sea?
What happened to my place in the great UP?
What happened to all of the golden years?
What more can I do besides shed more tears?

Those memories I'm fond of will never part,
That little cottage will remain deep in my heart.

I had always heard that Blaney Park was a resort frequented by the rich and famous, and a gangster or two, many years ago. It's a standing joke in our family that every time we pull up to the corner of Blaney Park at Highway 2 someone has pulled off and is looking at a map, trying to decide if they need to go east or west. The lake at the north end of Blaney Park is a pretty spot. I got out of the car once to take a picture from the bridge of a swan family that was wa-a-ay out there. The mom spotted me and came squawking at me. Even with my arthritic knees I had plenty of time to get back in the car! We also love the Visitors' Center at the Seney Refuge on that road. It's so peaceful there, and you can enjoy the displays in the building (and the restrooms!) and walk the perimeter of the building taking in the sights across the surrounding ponds.

Snowman, you're a poet and ya don't know it, but your feet show it... something like that...

Uncle Chuck, I'm a poet and a songster, here's my favorite;

I remember those cottages from MANY years ago (40s) and those Pines were much much shorter!

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Friday, January 25, 2008 - 07:30 pm:

Yep Russ, but you are taller too. Heard much of the same too, Marsha. The Cottages, where programmed in the GPS section of my Brain long before the Public were allowed to buy one. G - stands for Global - the P stands for Position - (not Planet - Public can't have those for 4 more years) - S - stands for Satellite System.- G.P.S. If just one person did not know that, then glad to have taken the time.

Who would be in favor of this law? >> No Pasty Central Post/s While Under the influence Surf only. Some of the above is a good example, for either side.

I now must go to tomorrow, and rescue a young lady from making a mistake,or live the life of a dream. Before Snowman beats me to it!

David H. For the most, I have no idea what you are talking about here! ? ?

As for GPS I've had a real nice "Garmin" unit for several years! Many of the bird researchers also have one. Very handy to have! Cabelas, Gander Mountain have been selling them for quite some time!
