We pause at the end of another month gone by, to pay honor to the memories of those friends and family that have left us too soon. For October we remember:

Bernice Aho
Theodore "Ted" Hainault
Jesse James Jaukkuri
James "Jim" Meyers
Lee Royce
Service men and women who gave their all

Keep them close in your thoughts. As always, please feel free to remember loved ones by posting their names here below. Special thanks to James Ludos for the beautiful Keweenaw sunset for our remembrance today.

In memory of Michael Ryan Ellet who died a year ago today--only
27 years old then. A husband, father, son, friend and member of
his community who should have had many more years with loved
ones and time to spend in the great UP out of doors.

By Cheryl Rozman (Cotton) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 08:04 am:

My Mom, Mary (Betty) Beaudoin passed away on OCTOBER 28,1990. It doesn't take a certain month or day for me to remember her.
I'd also like the remember a sweet woman whom I've known since I was a young girl. We girls were welcomed into her home at anytime. And when you were at her home she waslike your other Mother to you when you were away from your own home. You ate her food (and desserts YUM YUM), always had a place to sleep, a loving arm to hold you when you were upset & a lending ear to listen to our enormous love problems with our latest beaus& our other mother problems LOL She could tell us the cutest jokes & also dance the cutest dance right along with us. She was the mother of a dear friend, Sodie Outtinen & my OTHER MOTHER from years ago, Lily Wareham who passed away last week at Our Lady of Mercy Convalescent Home in Hubbell. Rest in peace Lil, your work on earth is through.

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 08:10 am:

In memory of my new son-in-law's new stepfather, George Howard of Gladwin. He passed away suddenly Friday after only being married two years. Our prayers are with his wife and family in this hard time.

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 08:12 am:

In memory of my Maternal Grandmother Cecilia Parr who died when I was 12, but who celebrated her Birthday on this day, October 31st. She was always upset that she had to share her birthday with so many, that she always felt overlooked, when we didn't traverse the St Mary's River to visit her.

And also my Brother Michael C. Brunk, who was taken from this life, December 25, 2005.

'I thank my God in all my remembrance of you' Book of Philippians 1:3

By Jiggs Gallagher (Jiggs) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 08:59 am:

My mother, Eunice Rowe Gallagher, passed away in Palm Springs, California, on October 8. She was born in Crystal Falls in 1916, and lived in Amasa until 1924. She moved to Crystal Falls and graduated from high school there in 1933. She directed the Augustana Sweedish Lutheran choir there, and worked in the town library before going to NMU in Marquette. Her mother was from Calumet, and for one year (1921-22) they lived in Sidnaw, while my grandmother taught school there. My mother moved to Washington, D.C. during the war and lived there most of her life. I will miss her.

By Russell E. Emmons (Russemmons) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 01:51 pm:

Remembering my father James Russell Emmons who would have been 93 this October 22nd. He served heroically through WW2, The "Battle of the Bulge" only to leave us tragically years later at a young 52 years old.

Also particularly this month we are still reeling at the loss of 3 of our beloved pets! Our 2 sister Labs "Wiggles" & "Looper" at 13 & 14 years old and our big all White cat "Snowball" who was killed by neighbors dogs running loose.

Dave mentions Porter Wagonner who I remember well. Last nights news told of Robert Goulet a fine French Canadian actor & singer passed yesterday at 73.

"Porter Wagner", "Porter Wagonner"

I should probably just shut up and try to ignore this, but I can't, it makes my head hurt!

I think you're referring to (Click ® ) Porter Wagoner

I saw Porter Wagoner perform at the Grand Ole Opry on September 7th and he seemed fine, full of life and enthusiasm. Now, he's gone not even two months later. I read that the average hospice length is 27 days. He made it two.

By Grace M Wetton (Gmw) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 09:12 pm:

In Memory of my mom & dad, John & Betty Ravasz.

Cousin Don Schmitz (Oct 17) gone 2 years.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 10:53 pm:

My spelling of Porter Wagoner was my mistake. Barbara's Grandmother Martha White (Oliver) passed on in December 1983. Porter had many a dinner at Martha's home in Knoxville in the old days, back then she was a Oliver from Cades Cove,TN. She then married John White and moved to MI. Barbara remembers going back stage to see Mr. Wagoner with her Grandmother when he did a concert at the Stage Coach Stop in the Irish Hill's MI. Porter Wagoner was of Irish and German decent. Martha will be a fixin him pinto beans, mess of greens, and cornbread with fried chicken up in Heaven. Thanks (FRNash)hope your head feels better.

Remembering my grandfather, Grant Hamm who served in the Navy during WWI. His grandfather was a Civil War sailor. Both lived in Escanaba. Grandpa eventually moved to Iron Mountain where he had a dental practice for several years. Of course, I'm also remembering my wonderful Grandmother Gertrude, a lifelong Yooper.
