The way the pidgeons must see Main Street Calumet, and how it was seen eight years ago today on the Pasty Cam, before there was Main Street Calumet.

Good morning! Back from a short 4 day visit to the CC.
Surprised at the early color. Would have thought it was September. Did some bear baiting ---legal or illegal, I don't know. Got into the "bushes" anyway.

By NKR (Nkr) on Sunday, September 2, 2007 - 09:11 am:

Good morning from Mishawaka IN. What is the building next to the jewelry store? The second on the left. Is it a wood front or brick front? I like that building.

By Debi Steinle (Debi) on Sunday, September 2, 2007 - 09:22 am:

Nkr: That is The Office Shop. I believe it is a wood front. (Probably over brick.) Good place to shop!!

Good morning everybody! Isn't nice to know that it's Sunday and we still don't have to go to work tomorrow morning? It's a beautiful day here in central Minnesota. Hope the fish are biting.

Be sure to go to the Main Street Calumet website. They have a 1913 Italian Hall Disaster movie embedded on the front page. It is very interesting to see the new documentary project that Woody Gutherie's son has underway this Labor Day Weekend.

The link is in Charlie's first posting here.

Arlo Guthrie is performing at the Calumet Theater again this year, October 16th.

The Calumet disaster has always facinated me. Mom was 4 years old that month. She never kmew much about that horrible time.

Thanks for the tip, YooperGal and thanks Charlie. Though,
according to Mr Lehto (who did plenty of research on the topic), the
facts presented in the song are not all accurate, I believe the
sentiment in Woody Guthrie's song is sincere.

Unfinished business, justice not served, will always leave us
wondering about the real facts behind the Italian Hall Disaster.

I bet Arlo will have quite the turn out on October 16th. Wish I
could be there.
