Some day I have to join Joyce Tormala on her adventures in Keweenawland. She always seems to know where to find the most unique and scenic places and portrays the calm and peacefulness in her photos too. This staircase, bordered by the changing leaves is purely magical. You get a feeling of anticipation as to what you'll see once you set foot in the sand and the Lake Superior expanse of beach stretches out before you. Even the driftwood at the bottom of the stairs seems strategically placed t, though you know it wasn't... magical indeed!

And the return trip will take your breath away :o)

The driftwood seems to beckon you to walk along the shore. Does
anyone know where this picture was taken exactly?

Paul,my knees hurt, too, but I'm pretty sure the trip back up would be worth it. I wish I was there right now.

Looks like it is near Agate Beach but I don't know who's camp it is.

Reminds me of my Grandmas friends place between Houghton and Ontonagon, she had a steep set of steps to the beach. Was worth the walk down, then we would swim in the lake. Nothing like body surfing in Lake Superior.

This picture, I assume, was taken at a camp at Agate Beach. My family camp is two down from here! It's a beautiful place and as always, thanks for sharing Joyce!

My Mother and her sisters have a camp at Agate beach, the Niemela camp. I remember the long stairs down to the beach.

As usual, another most beautiful picture from Pasty Central. Just been thinking of my Mom and Dad, too. Mom's birthday would have been Sept. 17, she died on Oct. 7,'73. Dad's birthday was May 18, he died on Oct. 22,'97. Also, Larry Kananen, grew up in Hubbell, passed away in Concord, NH this week. We were classmates at LLHS in the early 50s.
