When you drive across the U.P., it can be a long journey, so stops like this one that Paul Roberts made on a recent trip can refresh both the body and the mind. Even without the aura of sunshine cutting through the clouds, this is a great place to stop and stretch, but when you add those rays of light to the scene, it becomes a bit surreal. Nice way to break up the drive on M-28 between Marquette and Munising.

That is a beautiful picture. In a way, I'm surprised to see how flat the lake is, there really are no waves, with all of the clouds, etc. It looks like a storm is a brewing! Or, maybe it's the calm before the storm?

Happy Saturday, everyone! :-)

Wow...that is absolutely beautiful.

That is one of my favorite spots to stop, I have seen the lake that smooth a few times. 2 years ago it was like glass in that area 4th of july weekend, my grandma and I were so surprised.

Marianne,

Actually that night there was a pretty hefty storm about an hour or so after I took this picture. I had been driving all day but from what I understand it had rained earlier in the day as well. I personally love the rain, storms, and any other weather that brings dark clouds. They are so unique! I'm a bad weather buff! Any bad weather just blame me for as I live for it! :-) Glad you liked the pictures!

Another beautiful picture of God's Country.
Even the storm clouds are pretty.

Grizzly, I, too, love the drama of storms(so long as I'm safe on my open porch, safe from lightning.) The winds, the lightning & thunder, then that magic of peace and calm afterwards.

Mskatie,I hope you are careful on an open porch because lightening can strike so easily even if you feel protected. Our friend had a ball of lightening run right through his house....luckily,no one was hurt.

I am enjoying, and since I can't do so regarding the live scenery, I enjoy the pictures instead.
