First PostMorning everyone!

By Margaret, Amarillo TX on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 07:00 am:

Mornin'. I asked last week about the bridge being down for the winter; when does that happen?

By Charlie H, Eagle River, MI on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 07:05 am:

Margaret,

Yesterday I noticed the Ranger was still at Houghton waterfront. Also a BIG coast guard boat went through the canal in the morning. Probably over the next couple of weeks all of the traffic will move on, and the bridge will come down.

Also, yesterday someone requested a video of the Northern Lights. A few years ago our son Jonathan made an animation down at the beach here in Eagle River:

Once this summer I saw the bridge tracks go down, and an 18-wheel semi and trailer go across under the bridge!! I really don't think they'll be down for the winter until the water freezes over.
It's a beautiful sunny morning here in the UP; just check the bridge and airport pics today.

By Michele Maatta on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 08:33 am:

As I read this What's up Page today I just glanced out my window to see a vessle going through. So there is still some boating action going on. I have an AB FAB view of the Canal and the marina just outside and am a mere 143 steps (yes I counted them)from the water front. Ahhhhh it's great to live in the UP!

Any way to get back to the What's Up for other days, like we can for the cam notes?

By Audrey, San Jose, CA on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 11:52 am:

Candy... Under the big picture on the main Cam Notes page is a link for that day's What'sUp page. So just go to the day that you want to see, click on cam notes, scroll to just underneath the picture, and there's the link. I hope I explained this so it's clear!

By yooper at college, Grand Forks ND on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 03:13 pm:

The 18 wheeler you saw was hauling the boiler from the old Copper Range #29 steam locomotive, too big for the main span, the loco is being restored at the Mid Continent Rail Museum in North Freedom, WI

By Margaret, Amarillo TX on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 07:39 pm:

Thanks Charlie. We just don't get that action down here. Yo, Dave, the greens are really fast today with the dryness and the wind.

By Big B, MN on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 08:25 pm:

Yooper- How do I cut and paste your funny things into a word doc or excel spreadsheet and retain the animation? They don't move after I paste them...

By TOM SHIMON / OREGON on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 10:03 pm:

TOM SHIMON / OREGON:
Welcome to PastyCam.
Is your CAPS LOCK stuck, or are you deliberately SHOUTING?

By Scott, Wi. on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 11:47 pm:

Gosh those Northern Lights are wonderful.
To be on the beach in Eagle River would
be a treat. Looks like there is some weak
northern lights tonight. Can they be seen up
in the U.P? Sure is clear! The stars are out!

By CP...... Michigan on Friday, November 12, 2004 - 05:36 am:

Yooper: My norton's alerted me on the Smiely Central website... You should do a complete virus scan. Spyware material!!! Do a full system scan and you'll see what I mean. Also check Quarantined items in Norton's... I got rid of my smiely central website quick after that.

By Chrissy on Friday, November 12, 2004 - 05:52 am:

TO OLD CRUD & OLD MARM
SOME PEOPLE DON'T SPEND THEIR LIFE ON THE INTERNET! AND DON'T CARE ABOUT INTERNET EDIQUTTE! WE JUST ENJOY PASTY.COM!
I KNOW WITH MY HANDICAP IT MAKES IT EASIER TO LEAVE CAPS ON!DID YOU EVER THINK OF THAT!
P.S.I'M SHOUTING NOW!!!

By Reading Teacher, Genesee/Aura on Friday, November 12, 2004 - 08:14 am:

Like the weatherman said this morning:"Chill!" I don't mind Tom's caps or Schoolmarm's complaint against them, because she did so politely. I don't think it's Schoolmarm who needs to chill!

By Yooper on Friday, November 12, 2004 - 10:44 am:

CP, I don't know anything about SPYWARE. What will this do to my computer??? Thanks

By tech supporter on Friday, November 12, 2004 - 02:31 pm:

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
or
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

YOOPER
you may want to download the free version of one or both of these
i HOPE you have a virus scanning program too.

By Yooper on Friday, November 12, 2004 - 08:49 pm:

Thanks Tech supporter

I downloaded both and did a virus scan. No viruses, but had to delete some files when the above programs detected spyware files. Thanks!

By good start on Sunday, November 14, 2004 - 06:35 pm:

yooper I hope you know those programs are for spyware and do not remove viruses there is a difference!!
