Our end of the month memorial tradition goes on, as the memories of our loved ones who've passed before us continue. Keeping them near our hearts:
Marianne Strelec Anuta Anne Bach Hanngil "Hann" Hyun-Sung Cho Dawn H. "Dani" Cho Shirley Dulong Elizabeth Fichtel Charles E. Gustafson William Kline Robert Markham Hubert "Hub" Perreault Andrew Rogers
Never forgetting our brave servicemen and women who've given their all.
Two of the folks listed above had special connections to Still Waters in Calumet (where Pasty Central was born) - Anne Bach who lovingly tended the gardens for the residents to enjoy and Elizabeth Fichtel, a Captain in the U.S. Nurses Corps during WW II, was one of our residents. Feel free to add the names of those you'd like to remember...

This is in memory of my father, Richard Lahti, who was born in Toivola in 1927, grew up in Painsdale, moved to the Detroit area as a young man, then married my mother, Senia Maki. We spent many summers in the UP. We moved to Texas in 1973. I have not been able to visit since. Dad passed on in February of this year, and I have just discovered this web site and have been thoroughly enjoying all the photos. Thank you so much.

Hugh Beattie "went West to the Big Ranger in the Sky" on November 23, 2004. He was in the National Park Service, having been stationed here at Isle Royale National Park and was the first superintendent at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Many of his poilicies are still in effect today. He was active in the National Park coalition where he continued to work towards the preservation of the parks for all of us to enjoy, now and forever.
He had a full body donation in order to give others knowledge and training. He was selfless and never was looking acclamation.
Daddy, I will miss you.

" To a fine soldier War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest og things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made so and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
In memory of my brother, Greg Fallon, who was laid to rest on Nov.1. Greg fought a battle with diabetes and will be greatly missed by everyone who new him. Rest in peace Greg.

We just received word that my fiance's grandmother had a massive stroke and is not expected to live through the night. She is a wonderful, kind woman. If one could have ordered a grandmother from a catalog, it would be her. We love you, Grandma.
