Our end of the month memorial tradition goes on, as the memories of our loved ones who've passed before us continue. Keeping them near our hearts:

Remembering the members of my family who are no longer with us and our servicemen and women. I love the picture.

A beautiful Lake Superior scene! We will remember our beloved Molly forever. God Bless all with sadness in their hearts.

Thanksgiving took on a whole new meaning this year.

In memory of Weldon "Bud" Obrien from Mohawk. Today would have been his birthday.

In memory of my uncle Raymond Maki who lost his life Thanksgiving day 68 years ago while hunting near Thayers Lake.

In memory of Richard Mariacher, who was called away November 12. Our condolenses and prayers go out to his family and friends.

In memory of all the pets that we have lost in the past. Pets are a part of our families. They are closer than we realize. My heart goes out to my dear cat Joey.

God bless each & every soldier who has died in a war. They made the ultimate sacrifice by giving up their lives for our country.May they all rest in peace.Let us not forget their sacrifices!!! David Cavis, my cousin from Hubbell, was killed on Feb 22,1968 in Vietnam. God Bless him.

This is in memory of my father, Richard Lahti, who was born in Toivola in 1927, grew up in Painsdale, moved to the Detroit area as a young man, then married my mother, Senia Maki. We spent many summers in the UP. We moved to Texas in 1973. I have not been able to visit since.
Dad passed on in February of this year, and I have just discovered this web site and have been thoroughly enjoying all the photos. Thank you so much.

Hugh Beattie "went West to the Big Ranger in the Sky"
on November 23, 2004. He was in the National Park
Service, having been stationed here at Isle Royale
National Park and was the first superintendent at
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Many of his
poilicies are still in effect today. He was active in the
National Park coalition where he continued to work
towards the preservation of the parks for all of us to
enjoy, now and forever.

He had a full body donation in order to give others
knowledge and training. He was selfless and never
was looking acclamation.

Daddy, I will miss you.

Remembering our brother in law and friend, Wayne Hartmann who passed away in April. He is missed so much by his loving family and friends. And our dear cousin Janet Trasti who lost her battle with cancer in October. She was such a lovely lady and will be missed.

Remembering my parents, Tyyne and Hank Holman, who would have had their 64th Wedding Anniversary today. It is a great comfort to know they are truly celebrating together in eternity. May they continue to rest in peace. Fond memories and your children and their children miss you...

Carl Daavettila from Zion/Waukegan, IL passed away a few days ago after a battle with cancer.
Many great memories of Carl - especially his strong handshake.

Lawrence Gefeke, my grade-school principal at St. Paul Lutheran School in Royal Oak, Nov. 26, 2004; Marv Oswald's daughter Cindy in Alaska who lost her battle with cancer Nov. 27, 2004; my grandmother Marvel Oswald who died 16 years ago this month; my grandparents Alfred (d. 1991) & Grethe (d. 1986)Manteuffel who were married Nov. 1936; co-worker Dietrich "D-Bird" Davis who was senselessly murdered earlier this month during a hold-up, and who will be a guardian angel for his son, due to be born in two months. May they all live in our hearts and memories, and rest in peace.

Mom I still miss you after all these years, wonder if your lookin down on us and shakin your head with approval or distain, life has'nt been quite the same since you left, but your memories and sayings are still ever present and very powerful, hope your getting along ok, we all love you and miss you still today. Watch over us, take care of us if you can, you and god made that sunset for us, I just know it! I Love You!
