Jonathan Hopper caught an Eagle River rooftop with the Pasty Cam eight years ago, showing a dusting of snow. This year, we have a 40 percent chance of snow through the weekend, but those temperatures continue to hover just above freezing. The folks at Mont Ripley are champing at the bit to turn on the snow guns.

Meanwhile things wind down for students in the Keweenaw, as Tech students will head home tomorrow for a week off.

The forecast for Thanksgiving week here in MN says no snow and temps in the 50's. Now THAT I can handle, especially since my son has to travel 2 of those days, to and from college.

Wish we could be blessed with a snow dusting for Thanksgiving. It's so windy here in Ill-annoy it almost sounds like Lake Superior.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, November 16, 2006 - 11:26 am:

Congrats Laurie and Steve hope you get a lot of pleasure out of being granparents, remember there are many responsibilities [sp] involved in grandparenting. You always have to be at their beck and call, give them neat presents not underwear or socks, listen to them and don't judge them, and when they complain about Mom and Dad tell them embarasing stories about what the parents did when they were young. Always hug and kiss them, and never correct them for minor infractions. If you follow these simple rules, you will be the favorite. But not always with Mom and Dad, but the parents will get over your spoiling the grandkid since it is your mission in life.

Congrats Laurie & Steve! After having so many problems it is nice that it is finally over, eh?

Mikie, that is THE best description of a grandparent that I have ever heard. No wonder your grandchildren love you so much.
