A blanket of snow covered the grounds at Still Waters eight years ago. We had the same thing Friday; in fact, we had to have the lot plowed at the Hut. Alas, the snow is now gone and temperatures are expected to be in the low 50s today. Perhaps its not time to put the bike away after all.

Geez Trollperson we must have been typing at the same time, eh? I was walking past the computer room and decided to see if we had a picture yet. Sure enough. It's awesome too, isn't it?

Marsha, how was your weekend? I hope everything went well for your daughter's wedding.
Good morning everyone.

Way to go Deb. Marsha, you can breathe a big sigh of relief, the wedding is over. Hope it turned out great just as you had planned. Let us know, inquiring minds want to know LOL

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Monday, November 6, 2006 - 10:02 am:

JH & Cotton: Thanks for the kind words! We had a great time and everything went pretty well. So I think this is the last time I have to give a party for 200 of my closest friends! I'm now done with open houses (which are a breeze) and weddings (which are not).

By Smfwixom (Trollperson) on Monday, November 6, 2006 - 10:47 am:

Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper)- I agree that we were typing at the same time. I was checking e-mail and decided to see if the pic had changed which, of course, it had. Congrats on first post! It's a fantastic picture!!

By Ms. Katie (Mskatie) on Monday, November 6, 2006 - 11:21 am:

Since my email still isn't corrected I'd like to leave a note to Sharon Smith if I may. She mentioned in the notes of Nov. 5th about clouds. So here's a really neat site that she and others may want to check into. It's cloudappreciationsociety.org....it's so beautiful and interesting. Enjoy everyone.

Uncle Chuck & Little Betsy! Good for you, wish I was headed north too!!! The sad part about your UP vacation is that you have to leave! Have a great time!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, November 6, 2006 - 08:24 pm:

Any room for an extra, displaced yooper in that cabin there Uncle Chuck?? ;-)

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 - 10:03 am:

Good Morning, on Election Day! I think today got off to a great start, since I got a really cool treat. I happened to glance at Mich Tech's Fund Cam. I thought it looked too high for any cars to pass through, and then it started to lower. Sadly, though, I did not get to see what went under the bridge, to cause it to be opened in the first place. Oh well.
I hope you all have a good day.

Take care!

Marianne Y (Marianne):
Bridge activity...
All I caught was the following:

Bridge in "summer" position from sunrise thru 9:25AM:

bridge 1

Bridge in "winter" position...

bridge 2

from 9:30AM...

bridge 3

until 11:20AM.

Bridge back in "summer" position...

bridge 4

from 11:25AM until 3:00PM.

Maybe a couple of trains went through late this morning?

(Still kinda early for snomobiles!)

Did you see it up higher?

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 - 04:43 pm:

Yes, when I first caught it, I thought that it was in the up position, as in too high for any cars to go over it; I believe that was at about 9:22 this morning? Anyway, I did watch it move down to the summer position. All traffic was stopped, as shown on the motion camera. Then, the traffic started again going both directions, I thought. I looked at it periodically during the morning, since I was curious, and it kept changing positions. Maybe no boats went through? Maybe they were working on the bridge's mechanism or something?

Anyway, I am always fascinated, watching the bridge mechanism move, and the bridge change positions. (I was surprised to see it in the summer position.) It was almost like watching Michigan's weather change. :-)

I do have to agree that I had thought that it might be a bit early for the winter position, but I don't know that much about it?

Anyway, thank you for the pictures, FRNash. Where can you find those archived?
