Neil Harri was up in the air over Chassell this weekend and he spotted the Professional Walleye Tournament going on in the waters below. You could say that he was the winner with the "catch of the day." These shots are so spectacular that you could spend hours looking at them and still spot something new. Yes, indeed, that's quite the vista.

The rain threatened PastyFest and organizers moved the event indoors. After some rain just before the parade, things stayed dry, but we had quite strong winds. There were 20 pasties entered in the Pasty bake-off and Pasty Central gave away 500 freebies. An open house at the soon-to-be-opened Pasty Central Express pasty kitchen capped off a fine day. Thanks to everyone who made the day a great success.

Good Morning Chassell :)

We used to spend quite some time out on the pond there, fishing.

Looks like a great attendance

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, July 3, 2006 - 07:10 am:

Spectacular!

By Scott D. (Pooch) on Monday, July 3, 2006 - 07:28 am:

Great view of Chassel and Big Portage, not so often seen. Have a great Fourth of July.

By Shelley Trowbridge (Shelleyt36) on Monday, July 3, 2006 - 07:39 am:

Certainly a different view than the one I had on Tuesday traveling that road from Copper Harbor to Corunna! Had a wonderful time in the Keewenaw (hope I spelled it right!)!

By Margo (Margo) on Monday, July 3, 2006 - 07:50 am:

Breath taking views. Are the ripples on the water in the second picture caused by the plane or helicopter?

By E. Neil Harri (Ilmayksi) on Monday, July 3, 2006 - 08:42 am:

THE WATER RIPPLES ARE CAUSED BY THE WIND.

hi folks, what is with the bridge cam? it seems to be stuck. Thanks.

JIM

It's an issue with the computer powering the Bridge Cam. It needs to be replaced and will be one of these days, please stay tuned!

I SHOULD POINT OUT THAT THE TOURNAMENT BOATS FISH ALL THROUGHOUT THE WATERWAY IN WHAT THEY SEE AS THE BEST SPOTS. THIS PHOTO IS TAKEN AT THE END OF DAY WHEN THEY ALL MEET BACK AT THE CHASSELL MARINA TO WEIGH IN THEIR FISH OF THE DAY.YOU CAN SEE A FEW BOATS WHO WAITED FOR THE LAST MINUTE OF FISHING TO RETURN, STILL RACING TOWARD THE MARINA. A LOT OF LOCAL BOATS ALSO JOIN IN THE FESTIVITIES.

Yep, BridgeCam's been stuck for almost 2 weeks now. That poor little boat just can't get under the bridge..........

By Julia (Julia) on Monday, July 3, 2006 - 10:16 am:

Wow cool pictures!

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Monday, July 3, 2006 - 10:50 am:

Chassell is such a nice town! I miss eating at the Chippewa. They had the best strawberry shortcake. The Strawberry Festival must be coming up. Don't forget the Aura Jamboree the weekend of July 15. Great music all day inside and out, and also the night before. We'll be serving our bean soup again in the 55-gallon kettle outdoors.

By Randall Ollila (Rwolli) on Monday, July 3, 2006 - 12:48 pm:

Afternoon All.
-Marsha- Right on the money about the Chippewa. They had one of the best breakfasts anywhere. Enjoy the day everyone.

By Cotton (Cotton) on Monday, July 3, 2006 - 02:05 pm:

Beautiful photos! What a gorgeous and interesting album, too. I enjoyed your pictures of the eagles, wolves, and the moose, and of course Eagle Harbor Lighthouse. Thanks for sharing them with us, Neil.

Just returned this evening from the Copper Country and it's wonderous air and lake and especially the people. Will have to write about my 3 or 4 days, later, but must mention the great people especially those who helped me with my 7:30 AM car problems on Sunday morning!!! And God bless my many friends who remembered my sorrow on the memorial page. You're the best. (((((HUGS)))) Hope I'm not reprimanded for a moment's personal acknowledgement at a difficult time. Thank you.
