There are few things more inspiring than a Lake Superior sunset. Even though this photo was taken eight years ago, it could have been yesterday -- or 100 years ago.

We're gearing up for PastyFest -- less than two weeks away now. Construction is going full-force at the Pasty Central Express kitchen behind the Hut in Kearsarge.

This is a great time of year to be in the Copper Country. C'mon up and visit!

Excellent choices for pictures on both sites.
Sunrise, sunset. Doesn't it just make you
want to burst into song?

Thanks Uncle Chuck!
It would be happier if I was sitting on the shore with a cold one. Maybe next year . . .

Good morning all:

Can anyone lend me a boat??? I tried to get to work this morning and almost made it until I came upon a lake in the street, then turned around and headed for home. Only problem was, all the corners were flooding around me as I was trying to leave. I'm home now safe and sound, which means I'll probably be posting a message or 2 today, or uploading more pictures to my gallery ;-)

Hi all, what beautiful scenery! Those of you who live there are so blessed. Have a good day. It is cloudy here and cooler.

Hello Mary Lou, just saw your post after lessons and thought to better post the reply in yesterday's What'sUP instead of today's. Though, come to think of it, it's anything but "UP" ... :)

Capt. Paul - with that name, you've got none yourself?!? Just kidding. What would you like to have? I have an old Klepper foldable kajak which is so old, it badly needs a new skin before using.
Last time I encountered a lake in the street, I just drove through. Maybe you should get yourself a bike ... :)

i was just wondering what happened with the chalets they were going to bulid at lac la belle? Have they stop buliding?

By lz (Llamamama) on Monday, June 19, 2006 - 01:28 pm:

Capt. Paul, just heard on the radio that you guys are truely getting some rain! Possibly continue for the next 48 hours! Good luck and paddle hard. ;o>

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, June 19, 2006 - 03:00 pm:

Your not kidding!! 12 inches in 4 hours swamped everything, especially in downtown Houston. Not a lot of rain at my house but enough to make the grass grow tall. Right now the sun is out and it's getting warm again, but they are predicting more rain this evening possibly another deluge as the same storms are just pin-wheeling around out in the Gulf.

I actually tried to make it to work this morning, but when I saw a Houston Metro-Bus floating down the street, I turned my mighty little Neon around and came home. As Mr. Eastwood once said, "Man has got to know his limitations......"

capt Paul,
Do you know how the area around MD Anderson is faring? I have a close friend getting treatment there and staying with his family 2 blocks away.

By Erica - Florida Keys (Erica) on Monday, June 19, 2006 - 07:06 pm:

Jarmo, you always send such great links! Thank you for sharing.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, June 19, 2006 - 11:18 pm:

Maija, the area around MD Anderson didn't get the brunt of the storm; only about 4-6 inches fell there, so there wasn't a lot of flooding but still some water in the streets. Now they are predicting another round of rain tonight in pretty much the same areas so it will be interesting tomorrow morning to see what happens......
