With 2 weeks under our belts back in 1998, we were off and running with the Pasty Cam. Snowmobiles would frequently appear on the feature, sometimes sparking controversy, but mostly celebrating the fun to be found here in the north woods.

One of our favorite views - any time of the year - is the 'nose' of Brockway, looking down over Copper Harbor. This location would play an important role in the life of Pasty.NET, as the town became the northern-most population center in Michigan to have wireless broadband in 2004. Come to think of it... there aren't any population centers north of this!

Soon I'll be in the UP to check out the
snowbanks I've been hearing about from my
daughter and cousins. Hooray. I can hardly
wait! Leaving tomorrow.

I guess all the folks are on Spring break, Huh. I have been visiting with Midwest skiers and snowmobilers out here in the InterMountain West.
While diesling up the skimobile last Wednesday,
had chat with WI folks going to Island Park and West Yellowstone. Gave them good directions and hope they had a grand time! They were plenty excited!

Maybe many folks are out shoveling the snow instead of enjoying their visits here? The snow is mighty deep and heavy to move. You have to pace yourself and do a little at a time.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 - 07:05 pm:

Japei, Nice pictures as usual.

Kosk, Where are you going in Michigan. Safe journey and may you NOT run into a snowstorm until you're safe and sound. Did you get the books?

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 - 08:24 pm:

Sur5er and Deb,

Thanks for the good wishes. Rusty , my dog,
and I set out for the LP tomorrow morning. We
will stop to look for the Patterson books there.
After visiting with my dad and in-laws, we will
head for Ishpeming bright and early on
Thursday morning. Hoping--weather
permitting--to make it to the Copper Country to
hook up with the cousins and aunties on
Friday. Staying in Ishpeming Sat. Back to
Toronto on Sunday.

Hope the "gales of March" aren't roaring on
the North shore of Lake Michigan or the South
shore of the BIG LAKE.

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 - 09:26 pm:

Good evening from Mishawaka, IN. Someone in the UP was really doing that ol' snow dance yesterday. Sur5er, Guess I need to go north and take some lessons. The wind has been wicked here in IN the last few days. Walking back to school after lunch was a job today. Enjoy the snow.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 - 09:53 pm:

Charlotte, I took advantage of the sun and wind today, to dry my bed linens on the line. Nothing in the world like the smell and crispness of linen dried on the line. Looks like we might get some snow on Thursday now...since we missed out on the snow we were supposed to get today.
Kosk, If you can't find the Patterson books, let me know and I will be more than happy to send you mine. Have a safe trip home...can't wait to read your post, when you return :)

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 - 03:18 am:

Thanks Renee...I still am in a great deal of pain but have that one worry off my shoulders...having another procedure on April l6...so I am keeping my fingers crossed. :)
After reading about all the snow and wind and cold I always end up putting on another sweater when I read about the UP.
Bobg...your pictures are great.
