By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 09:49 am:

been trying to be first, love this site reminds me of when I lived in Hubbell Bob G,s site is great with the pictures of Hubbell I remember each of the buildings and who the owners were. Can never relive the forties and fifties when we would sled down the hill by LaRues on barrell staves that Mr LaRue made for us.

Good Mid Morning!!! got my propane tank filled! ahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.....bang! that was my head hitting the table. Sorry Mikie! but I am the first mid morning post.

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 10:10 am:

I thought you had to wait to post after the new picture of the day to be the early bird.
That would make Trollperson the true early bird for today wouldn't it?

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 10:31 am:

Whitewaves, Do we need to send the EMT over to your house, to revive you after the sticker shock of your propane bill? Breathe hon...inhale...exhale. Good boy :)

Sorry Mikie and Whitewaves, but Happyooper beat you to the Early Bird...by about two hours :) It's a female thing, you know :) It takes a female to beat you guys to the Early Bird...and another female to point that out to you guys :)

Hey Charlotte, what's up with the Indiana governor trying to sell the Indiana tollway? ROFL. Good thing he isn't governor of Michigan, eh...or he'd be trying to sell da Mighty Mac.

Ok, Thumbgardener, you caught me. :) I was cheating, so that just once, I could be the Early Bird!

By Smfwixom (Trollperson) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 01:23 pm:

Thumbgardener & happyooper - just read your comments -I always wondered how somebody could post way before the picture showed up! Have a good day!

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 01:26 pm:

Good afternoon from Mishawaka, IN. The snow we received Tuesday night and yesterday morning is nearly gone. It felt more like spring when I went to lunch than winter.

Sur5er, I haven't figured out what the gov is up to with the Toll Road. My husband says he's setting it up for his buddies to buy and he'll have it when he is out of office. That might be sooner than he plans. He has had St. Joe County in an uproar for months about the time. Yesterday the DOT said St. Joe would be on eastern time, like Michigan. Personally they could have left the time alone. If he were govenor of MI the Big Mac, Mackinac Island would be up for sale. Maybe the whole UP.

By Yahoo in Flatland (Yahooinflatland) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 01:41 pm:

Sounds like the Indiana Gov got the idea from Chicago...
Our illustrious mayor sold the "Skyway Toll Bridge" to some French owned company last year for 8 jillion dollars (It was an obscene amount of $, but I don't remember how much) and of course after the new "owners" of the bridge took over, they raised the prices!
The Skyway connects to the Indiana Toll Road, so it probably seems like a natural to the Indiana Gov.

Good Luck Hoosiers with that deal!

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 01:51 pm:

Charlotte, Snow is headed our way Friday and Saturday....yeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaw :) According to the noon weather report, we may get a couple of inches...or maybe more.

Everyone out this way is questioning Governor Daniels' motives behind selling the IN tollway, too. We have one great holdout...House Minority Leader Patrick Bauer from South Bend :) I contacted him and told him about the nice (ahem) phone call and emails I recieved from Governor Daniels' officials, when I alerted him to the fact that IN courts were ordering truck drivers to violate federal DOT laws.
Figured Bauer could use all the ammo/ mud, he could get his hands on :) Never...ever, mess with a Michigan woman...cuz we always win, eh :)

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 03:03 pm:

Aw, happyooper, now I feel bad. I hope you are still a happyooper.

By happyooper (Trigal) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 04:02 pm:

Ha ha! Don't feel bad, Thumbgardener, I'm always a happyooper. Just ask my husband... ;)

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 04:06 pm:

Hey, we need some happy cartoons jumping up and down when the yooper gets to it. Don't want those polar bearistas getting ahead of the old cam.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 04:33 pm:

I guess I might as well resign myself to being second or third since I have been married to a Michigan woman for forty years and I am used to being last on her list. after the kids and grandkids.

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 07:25 pm:

Sur5er, Heard on the news tonight that we have a winter storm watch out for tomorrow evening. Hope it holds off until the bus caring the basketball team(and me)get back from Elkhart. Then it can let go with the snow.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 07:44 pm:

Charlotte, Be careful tomorrow night. They have a winter storm warning out from the Wisconsin/ Illinois border...all the way across north western Indiana, for Friday night through Saturday. Da UP is finally sending us some of its snow :)
For us, it will start out as rain...and as the temps fall Friday evening, it will turn to snow...with accumulations of 4-8 inches. Everyone drive careful ;)

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 08:40 pm:

Sur5er, I'll talk to the bus driver about taking it easy on the way home. I get to go along with the team since I will keep the score book. This is a job I do only when both the guys and the girls have a basketball game on the same night. I usually get to ride the bus and not stay at home. It's taken me some interesting places--East Chicago (we ended up in the gambling place (other word was starred out) parking lot on the way home), Gary, Toronto, and lots of other northern IN places.
