By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Monday, January 2, 2006 - 07:57 am:

We had a first-time occurance in selection of the winners for December's Contest at Pasty Central... Two of the winners were from Canada! Dianne Gardner from Ontario is the winner of the Keweenaw Snowmobile Rental, and Jennifer Hoggard of Ontario wins the IRNHA Sweatshirt. The lucky state-side winner of the Silver Bear Snow Scoop is Joseph Gdowski of Illinois.

Our thanks to all of the sponsors who provide the prizes for Pasty Central's monthly contests, the oldest continuously running Internet contest in the State of Michigan.

Good morning from Kalamazoo. 37 deg. and rain here. Almost all the snow is gone. Rats!

Good Afternoon From Florida...it's 82 degrees! and no snow....

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Monday, January 2, 2006 - 03:29 pm:

Good afternoon from Mishawaka, IN. It's a gray, rainy day here. Certainly doesn't look or feel like January 2. The snow is long gone--even the piles in the backyard are missing. It will be back to school tomorrow morning. I think I'm ready.

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Monday, January 2, 2006 - 04:40 pm:

Good thing one of my favorite colors is gray! This has to be the grayest day so far. Back to school for me Wednesday. This vacation is way too long.

Thanks for the animations Yooper...you know how to brighten up the gloomiest of days, eh. Hubby and I were trying to remember the last time: A) The sun was out; b) The last time it wasn't raining. And I think I just heard thunder...in January? Sigh.

By Ken, Kalamazoo, MI (Kenkazoo) on Monday, January 2, 2006 - 07:25 pm:

You are correct, Sur5er. We just finished about an hour of thunderstorms with lots of lightning here in SW Mich. In January! Just heard the weatherman say it's been at least 10 days since there was any sun at all.

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP (Kenjamimi) on Monday, January 2, 2006 - 11:30 pm:

Seems like a long time since the sun has been out in Cornell, too. Just a little splash a coupla days ago. Haven't seen it since before Christmas. Have faith! We know it's still up there.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Monday, January 2, 2006 - 11:43 pm:

Kenjamimi, Are you sure the sun still exists? If anyone sights the ever allusive sun, will you please report in? Checked the weather for the next ten days and it is rain...more rain...and even more rain...followed by periods of snow, mixed with rain. Sigh.
Copied some pics of the Mighty Mac and put them on my bulletin board, to keep my mind in the "think UP, think snow" mode :)

I just couldn't resist reporting the temperature and weather conditions from where I'm reading all the Pasty Cam notes....
It's about 54 here in San Francisco, the weather has been rainy but warm for this Yooper! Will be returning to the cold and snow on Wednesday! Until then Jim and I are enjoying the cable cars, hills and sights of the Big City! :-)

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 - 02:36 am:

Mary, Glad to hear that you and your hubby are having a wonderful vacation, and enjoying all the sights :)
Hubby is promising me a vacation in da UP, as soon as I finish this case :)
